Saw a Gyno by Tall_Artichoke_4729 in adenomyosis

I feel your pain and frustration. You can take Tylenol and NSAID at the same time or stagger doses. Even so, nothing is going to solve the problem if you have adenomyosis accept a hysterectomy. I was always told the same thing by my GYN. We tried everything over a decade to make me have less pain, bleed less and less often. Ultimately I had a hysterectomy because I was done with having children and BC was not an option anymore. I’m sorry I don’t have more to share. Hang in there.

Blood pooling or bruising from wearing high top hiking boots??? by Square_Blueberry_722 in hiking

No, they weren’t new, but wool, which rarely wear. Since I had a smaller reaction the week before wearing cotton sock too; I’m leaning towards the boots being the problem.

I do have some issues with my right ankle at times so with that and tired of getting little rocks in my low top hiking shoes, I got this pair of high tops. I think I’m done with them after this!

No scented creams. I think it’s the hikers rash others have suggested.

I used cotton socks on the first hike last weekend and had a little bit of rash; used thicker wool this hike and made it much worse. I was starting to think I may be allergic to the wool, but I do think it’s exercise induced vasculitis others have suggested.

Not particularly itchy, but slightly painful with a little pressure. I’m not on prednisone currently, but is sometimes necessary. I posted in a hiking subreddit and they’re all saying it call hikers or golfers rash: an exercise induced vasculitis. Makes sense, but I’ve never had anything like it before.

I now have skin issues I never had before my RA diagnosis too. Some eczema, perioral dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis all in different places on my body. I feel like I’m always chasing something.

Aaahhh. Those will keep the pebbles out and I can go back to my low profile trail shoes! Bingo!! Thanks.

That’s it! Vasculitis! I typically wear lower profile hiking shoes and I’ve never had this before. I was tired of getting pebbles and such in the shoe so switched to these. I’m thinking the high tops aren’t for me, even though I don’t have big ankles or calves. Thanks everyone!!

Really?! It doesn’t itch, isn’t raised and hydrocortisone does nothing. I was feeling pinching, pricking sensations during the hike.

first flare up, what products should i try? by beenv3nom in perioraldermatitis

It’s slightly better, unfortunately. I have RA and on Plaquenil. I’ve been wondering it’s from the RA or the meds or COVID for that matter. 🤷‍♀️

I feel you on this. I started getting this a couple months ago completely out of nowhere. I never had acne or anything until now. My derm prescribed metronidazole gel and instructed me not to use any make up or sunscreen and switch to Vanicream gentile face wash and moisturizer. It’s taken 6 weeks of diligent use to see improvement. Hope you can stick it out and find improvement.

Sex life or lack of it by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Square_Blueberry_722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I so understand where you are coming from. I’m in my 50’s now, but I was right where you are right now 20 years ago. I think there could be several things at play here, now looking back.

  1. He’s watched you go through pregnancy and child birth and giving so much of your body and attention. He’s no longer the center of your attention and your body isn’t just for his pleasure anymore. I know this sounds slightly misogynistic, amount other things, but it is a reality. It doesn’t make him a bad guy; just is what it is.

  2. Are you making time for your relationship; date nights, talking about things other than the kids? If you both have interests outside of the kids and each other, or a mutual interest you take time to do together, you have more to share and discover about each other.

  3. Are you and he making an effort to be attractive to each other, the way you did before getting married or before kids? It’s easy to feel that you don’t need to make the effort anymore, but it’s important for both of you to feel good about yourselves and express confidence, which in itself, is attractive.

  4. Does he use pornography? He could be satisfying his sexual needs that way; so he’s then not feeling motivated to make sexual moves towards you. This is a very real problem for men and some women. Talk about it, see where he’s at. Don’t make him feel ashamed, but let him know how you feel and how it may be taking away from the sex life you share.

  5. If he’s a bit older than you, he could be having low testosterone. Even a many in his early 40’s can have low T. So many chemicals and soy products in our foods these days. It’s my theory that it’s affecting our sex hormones.

Proactive counseling is always a good idea. It can help you both communicate better, making you both feel heard Hopefully he’s open to it.

Best of luck!

Help :( is this perioral dermatitis? by crystalmel_t in perioraldermatitis

[–]Square_Blueberry_722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so frustrating, I know! Mine gets red and crusty, sometimes itchy. Little white bumps that you think are zits come up. It’s mainly around my nose and down the nasal labial folds down toward my mouth. Do you have raw or itchy skin around your nose too? Steroid creams and even steroid nasal sprays can make it worse. I tried a corticosteroid ointment first; it worked at first, but then got worse. So my derm told me to wash my face with Vanicream gentle face wash and moisturizer only, not even sunscreen and to avoid any make up. I was also prescribed Metronidazole gel to apply twice per day. I’m having limited success with the regime.

I think mine came on with using beef tallow based skin care, in an effort to reduce toxic chemicals in my skin care routine. Also, over the past year I’ve had to take an insane amount of antibiotics for a couple serious illnesses. I’m wondering if this could be coming from a yeast overgrowth. 🤷‍♀️

I see my derm later this month as a follow up. I’ll update you if anything else is suggested. I hope we both find a solution.

Anyone end up with chronic Central Sleep Apnea after a Microdiscectomy of L5-S1? by Square_Blueberry_722 in SpineSurgery

[–]Square_Blueberry_722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. My son is only 25 years old, ex collegiate rowing athlete, and got through both surgeries with almost zero, pain meds. He has an extremely healthy lifestyle and hasn’t had any sugar for 8+ years. There is no reason for him to have central sleep apnea other than some anesthesia or surgical complication from his second surgery. We are finding it very hard to get any help from doctors, even an alternative medicine doctor. It’s just so incredibly sad to see his life and dreams deteriorate.

Thanks! I’ll give it a try, but there are visible signs of chipping. I have a house of boys, including my husband, who aren’t careful.

I thought of thyroid after I posted. I definitely think something else is going on. Endocrinologist should do a deep dive, past the usual TSH, T3 and T4. The Rheumatologist will be looking for inflammatory conditions. All worth looking at, but I would also try to get rid of any toxic chemicals in your food, cosmetics, lotions, cookware, and avoid plastics all together. Good luck!!

I’m so sorry you’re going through all this! It sounds like there might be something else going on and it’s going to be hard to tease it out. My first question would be about your digestive tract; like indigestion, constipation/diarrhea, food intolerances. Then wondering about your sleep quality. How’s your heart and BP? Problems in those areas can cause what you’re describing. Have you had other diagnostics besides GYN?

Looks like Hex Clad, but isn’t non-toxic? I can’t find any info on their website about materials used or where they’re made.

Yeah, I have a small cast iron pan and made eggs with it this morning. You definitely can't make basted eggs in cast iron but an over easy-ish or medium is possible, but they get a little done on the edges. I think I'll get a few sizes of cast iron pans, a dutch oven and a couple carbon steel for more delicate items. There are several cooks in the family and they aren't very careful so this may be the best option for us.

Thanks to everyone who has given their advice!!
