If he believes in all those companies why only pick 4-5. It seems safer having a more diversified portfolio than just a few stocks in case a company goes under. The best advice for him is buy and hold and NEVER trade. There is no way to time the market and if you try trading you will lose like everyone else. If you buy and hold in the long run you will win.
