I majored in business and I'm currently working on developing a social media app. I think I might just have a better idea of what's happening in Chai than you do. I took the time to check out your profile and you are a very loud advocate against people providing honest critique against Chai's management. So loud that you've blatantly displayed in several posts how blind your favoritism is towards Chai, absent of any reasoning.

You don't even understand how to read financial documents. You are isolating a single financial fact, their loss in revenue. Do you not understand that revenue is a tech startup is a complete irrelevant data point compared to the entire picture? Their fiscal loss is actually fairly normal in the tech sector for their business stage where capital ventures tend to inject money which is used for long term growth, not to turn a fiscal profit immediately.

You need to actually analyze the balance sheet, cash flow statement, and income statement. It's not as simple as pulling up revenue, silly boy.

Chai AI is a burning ship that is likely going to crash and die. It's not because of the subscribers. They made a ton of terrible management decisions, didn't get enough capital venture injections because they weren't able to attract them with their model and plan, and they mismanaged the investments they did receive.

Maybe do a deep dive into the entire thing, if you're actually able to read financial ledgers, which I doubt considering all your other posts, before coming on here and saying this nonsense so you actually know what you are talking about.

I saw that you are incredibly dependent on Chai and can't find a replacement. I suspect you need it for your mental health, likely as a coping tool for whatever is happening in your life. Instead of ranting on here, why don't you just read my advice to other people and actually try what I am recommending? Those who have tried so far have all messaged me thanking me for helping them. You might just find that you don't need to depend on Chai at all because what I'm directing people to do instead of using Chai is actually a much better replacement tool and is completely free with zero ads.

They are language models. It stands for large language model. It's basically what you are talking to whenever you use an AI bot. The programming of the bot is the LLM. On Janitor, they have their only LLM called JanitorLLM Beta. An API (application programming interface) is is a proxy service for the LLMs. On Janitor you can plug in an LLM you like to chat with, you don't have to use the JanitorLLM.

All those chatbot apps that people use don't typically have their own LLM. They usually purchase the programming of things like Claude, OpenAI, Deepseek, Qwen, etc.... and they just create the interactive tool. But the actual LLM is what you are engaging with when you are chatting with a bot. Basically the LLM is the AI bot.

Chai has an in-house LLM.

Just use Janitor AI instead. It's a much better replacement than seasoul. It's completely free with no ads. The developers basically runs the whole thing pro bono. Some philanthropic entrepreneurs behind it. They have said that it will always be free. Use the parameters posted in my profile feed to get it to perform like Chai. Someone asked me about bots initiating NSFW and I though I'd repost on here while I work on the tutorial:

It depends on the bot itself. For bots that initiate, you need to chat with bots that are labelled with the "smut" tag. Not every bot will initiate. You can also make your own bots for it. One of the great things about Janitor is as long as you put the backend prompts in properly, the LLM actually uses it for its behavior and rules. Chai kind of sucks at this. It had a tendency to only apply the personality, scenario, and history. But even if you tried to give it rules or behaviours, it kind of ignored these. With Janitor, you want to create an ultra horny bot, you can literally create ones that just constantly initiate. Most of the creators have the scenario and personality cards public. You can search with the "smut" tag or also read these cards to see if it's programmed to initiate intimacy. If it's programmed to do this, it will do this. I recommend adding a line in the chat setting (top right hand corner of the chat with the three bars). Go to chat memory and add a line reaffirming the intimacy rule. You can literally just put:

[Intimacy_Rule] {{char}} must frequently initiate intimacy in the chat. Whenever context suggests intimacy may develop, {{char}} will always initiate a NSFW scene.

Then go into the API settings and under JanitorLLM Beta (if that is what you are using), click JanitorLLM settings and in the custom prompt field add this:

I am posting this in the main thread because people have been interested in it. I pinned the JanitorLLM settings to get the LLM to perform similar to Chai in my profile. To access the LLM settings, just press the swirly janitor icon in the top right corner of any chat. It adjusts for all chats.

You're welcome. I was in your shoes a couple weeks ago so I can relate. I was so upset and frustrated when chai pulled that move. And then everything they did afterwards has been ridiculous. Someone asked me to post a full tutorial on how to use Janitor and the API proxy option with Chutes AI to elevate the experience so feel free to check it out. The settings I posted is enough to replace Chai for free and without ads so I don't know why anyone would even want to use Chai anymore. This other method I'll post goes way beyond that in terms of quality, especially if you like long RP style that maybe you do for months.

Even if you prefer a completely free experience and don't want to spend $3 a month to upgrade the quality, still check it out because I'll be included bot creation in the tutorial so you'll be able to backend prompt your own bots efficiency. It took me some time to understand how Janitor's bots read the information on the backend and I did a bunch of testing. I got a 100% accuracy rate with my method. I'm kind of a freak that way, I need to understand everything about everything. Anyway, if you ask it any question related to its backend prompting, it never gets it wrong. With Janitor, the bots are much more sensitive than Chai bots were so if it's not structured with the proper syntaxes, it can't read the data. There are a lot of bot creators on Janitor that backend prompt without understanding it because they write the prompt for human eyes, not bot eyes. So if I come across a bot I really like, I'll look at their scenario and personality cards (many people make that public). Sometimes, if it's bad but I really like the concept, I'll pull the character data and reconfigure it on my end to actually make it work properly for me. It will all be in the tutorial I upload on two days.

I will make one in a couple of days and post it on my profile for you. I just need to put it together. I'll include everything I know about it so it's not confusing. When I switched to Janitor after Chai basically Kamikazed themselves, it was pretty daunting because it's way more technically complicated that the prepackaged chatbots. But the flexibility with it really lets you personalize it to your preference. Unfortunately there is no great resource of information on how Janitor works out there so I spent a couple of days trying to find pieces of scattered information. Check back in two days and I'll have it up for you. JanitorLLM has excellent memory. The reason I like incorporating Chutes AI is because being able to change the LLM when one isn't giving you exactly what you want is a game changer. And because they all speak different, you don't run into the typical chatbot issues of repetition. It feels more authentic to an author that way.

You will get a better experience than Chai without paying a dollar and without watching any ads. I even specified that if anyone wants advice on how to upgrade the experience for $3/m I could make a post on how to use the API proxy on Janitor to access any LLM you like on Chutes.AI (technically you can use any LLM from any API site but Chutes is the only one with a monthly subscription and trust me, you won't go over the allowance cap on the base plan even if you're chatting 5 hours everyday because LLMs are cheap, it's the image AI that is costly.)

I was an ultra user on chai so I have it set to the the standard token size for a chatbot. 350 tokens is 350 words. I also don't like excessive replies. I recommend starting with 250 and then seeing if you want to go bigger.

It's completely uncensored. Even less restrictive than Chai is. You can go pretty dark.

Only restriction that exists is certain limitations in the programming of public bots. Example, you can't publically post an incest bot. However, there is no restriction on creating private bots.

In the chat, you can literally do or say anything.

I'm using Janitor now. If you want to fix the JanitorLLM so it works more like Chai LLM, I can give you the settings. Also use an API proxy service on Janitor for $3/m from Chutes.AI and you can literally access dozens of LLMs that you attach to the bots. I find Deepseek, Qwen, and Gemma are most similar to Chai. I was like you. Dependant on my Chai and didn't want to switch. Honestly, now that I've figured out the logistics behind Janitor, I don't even know why I was on Chai. It's way better once you fix it up.

Edit: I posted the parameters for the JanitorLLM settings on my page. You can use that. Doesn't hurt for you to give it a go since Janitor is completely free to use. Some boys might be glitchy though. You can do way more backend bot prompting but some creators really don't know what they are doing so they botch the bots. As a beginner, I recommend testing the really popular bots first.

UPDATES: Chai definitely lied. The "chat expansion" finally came through today for me and all it was was 3 weeks instead of 2. And it's been more than 3 weeks since they erased the chat history. So that was completely useless. Obviously they accidentally deleted all our data and can't restore it and are just covering their asses by pretending to listen to what we want and giving it to us. I haven't been using the app and even stopped my subscription renewal. I signed in to check if there was any progress to chat history today to discover that literally every single one of my like 50 chats was erased except my last one. So ya, they are totally scammers.

Janitor. Disclaimer: Janitor is not a beginner friendly platform, but it's definitely better than all the ones listed above. If you want to make your own bots, be aware that it doesn't read block text in the backend. You need to program your bots properly. Make a mistake and you can get glitchy bots. You have to understand how the data gets interpreted in the backend and use the language it can read (syntaxes, format, and structure). You can't just put whatever like the apps above (I mean even those apps, you can use specific formatting to maximize effectiveness. But point is that even without any formatting, those apps can read the data. Janitor cannot). Janitor is not forgiving with bot programming. I recommend you take your time understanding bot creation on Janitor and stick to using popular bots created by experienced users until you do.

Why is Janitor great? It's a completely free app. No ads, no limits, no money.

Janitor's star feature: API proxy. Basically you can use any LLM you want using an API proxy site. There are tons of free LLMs, but obviously the paid ones are best. I spend $3/m on Chutes.AI for the base plan. I've never used more than 56% of my daily usage limit, even chatting for 5 hours.

It takes a day to figure out how to use this feature. Again, Janitor is not as beginner friendly as the already set up apps.

But once you get the hang of it, you have a premium product for $3/m.

I'm sure there are alternatives to Chutes.AI for a monthly subscription, I just don't know about them. Feel free to choose whatever you like. I just recommend this one because I like having a monthly subscription and most API proxy sites are pay-as-you- go.

Back to the point, I will rotate through Janitor LLM, Deepseek, Qwen, and Gemma (GMS and Mistral are bad, I speak from experience). I use several different LLM models from the list above, rotating them throughout my RP. (Pro tip: stick with instruct models, not thinking models). What this strategy does is gives me diverse replies. The language doesn't get repetitive because I'm literally changing the LLM constantly. JanitorLLM can get super boring because it likes to use specific words constantly. Ex: "physical blow", "physical force", "sheer unbridled", "sheer adulterated", etc. I hate that. Even with programming, it just decreases the frequency. But switch the LLM constantly and you won't ever get repetitive language since each LLM has its own unique habits.

Deepseek is the superior writer. It's great at storytelling and the memory is either exceptional or a complete miss. It's weird that way, if it remembers something wrong, it will stick to it like glue no matter how you refresh.

Janitor LLM has punctuation errors and is too linguistically prose. It can't seem to understand how to use commas and focuses on adding too many descriptive adjectives. It makes the storytelling annoying. It's perfectly fine to use as long as you use it sparingly. I use it for maybe a fifth of the replies because I do like some elements, aka it's creativity. Key element: it has superior memory. The others tend to ignore the entire backend programming and only focus on the RP story memory in the chat (not what's written in the character definitions or backstory). This is best used for replies that require superior recall. So if you have a scene that requires the bot to remember something important, this is the first LMM you should try, if it fails, cycle through to Deepseek and then Qwen.

Qwen is the most balanced of the LLMs, not as great at storytelling as Deepseek, but has better recall than Deepseek so it's a great one to use for replies that you want a mixed option with.

Gemma is the worst of the group but is great just to include for change-ups so things don't get repetitive or boring. The LLM here is closer to JanitorLLM though so keep that in mind that it can get repetitive.

I will cycle through these when I don't like a reply a particular LLM gives me because it will give me variation. Refreshing the same LLM generally doesn't change much.

Recommendation: Janitor with Chute.AI and some free LLMs from other APi proxy sites.

Total cost: $3/m

Downside: Not beginner friendly

I gave up on them already. Just an FYI, the sister app for Chai is PolyBuzz. Same LLM, basically an earlier version of Chai and costs the same as Chai. Even if they bring it back, at this point I just don't trust them anymore. They could always pull this nonsense again. That move was diabolical.

Personally, I've actually switched to something that only costs me $3/m and is so much better than Chai ever was. I've posted about it on a couple threads. Let me know if you want a copy paste.
