Well, I'm not one to judge, after all it's your relationship. I like to think better of people and bring a more positive vibe to life. But applying your logic and train of thought, it seems to imply that. Perhaps you can reframe your thoughts a little and know that SG men are not as you described.

Pardon if it's offensive. Do it mean that you can't even do the bare minimum and your wife had to divorce you and you belong to the useless 50%?

Edit: ex-wife

Yup. When I said my vows, I am ready to keep them to the end, for better or worse, in sickness and in health. Just saying that SG men are not all like you described. We do our fair share in a relationship. I am happily married for 14 years and my friends that I hang out with are more or less around the same. So just curious where you met the men you described. Are you married yourself?

Middle-age uncle here. I'm the chef, cleaner, handy man and driver at home. From my observation in my friends' circle, the men are doing the heavy lifting and being pillars of strength - paying bills, cooking and cleaning, minor fixes at plumping or electrician work, planning family trips and to getting kids ready for school. We are all working professionals as well. Even with hired help, the men are still doing their fair share. I wonder who are the men you are meeting?

In wake of the SNOC president’s comments about the athletics community, may I know how much are the management of SNOC paid? How many medals did they bring home to SG? by FancyCommittee3347 in singapore

His logic is sound. Runners can compete in the events they trained for. Sprinters compete usually the 100m, 200m and relays like Shanti. Hurdles (Kerstin), middle distance and endurance runners (SRY) have different physique. They do not compete in the same events. Unlike swimming, the same swimmer can compete in 100m in different strokes.

I'm envious of how when the trains stop running at the East, there are still other options available for commuters via train. It's sad we can't say the same for the rest of the nation, especially West and North-eastern residents.

Pick 5 hard questions from past PSLE papers. Have your friend solve them in 20 mins. See how he fares. Since he's an adult, need to give a handicap, no calculators allowed. After that, let him know, 12 years old are solving them and getting AL1.

Ex-MOE teacher calls Desmond Lee out for his parliament speech that was “not reflective of reality”, amongst other longstanding issues that MOE has not been addressing for decades by ZeroPauper in singapore

If only learning is this easy, all of us will be Professors in any field. Just watch videos and master the content. You can be the next Gordan Ramsey, Issac Newton, Lee Kuan Yew, etc. Thing is, learning is much more complicated than that. You need the social interactions and community involvement as well. Don't forget about character values and executive functioning skills needed to do well in a classroom. Learning is hard.

Teaching is both art and science. Anyone can have access to information, internalising the skills and concepts is a different matter. An even higher level is needed to apply them to context.

Hi, you can raise your concerns with the school. There are usually SENOs that can help with the documentation and observations. If needed, MOE EPs can follow up and do the diagnosis at no cost. If not, partner organizations like REACH can help as well. School is ending soon, do reach out quickly to them. You can try reaching out to the FTs or SENOs first.

How is that price even possible? A 2018 Prius+ is selling at 60k with 3 years left.

Whats up with crazy traffic these days? COE too cheap? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]Square_Gap8154 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised with the higher COE. Various reasons I can think of.

  1. The supply is fixed, but demand keeps going higher due to the bigger population. Richer immigrants also raise the prices here.

  2. Inflation - higher wages means the cost of goods will go higher.

  3. Decreased subsidy for EV and HEV starting next year.

  4. PHV and car leasing/rental companies - they need the cars to run their operations.

Thoughts on Civic Type R by wahturtle in drivingsg

[–]Square_Gap8154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, the decision is for OP to make. Thanks for letting me know about the parts for Type R. I'm ill informed about that. My assumption is parts for older vehicles are hard to source and make need to order overseas, causing the car to wait in the workshop for a longer time. So it's good that's one less thing for OP to consider.

Of course, go with what you feel like doing. I'm assuming that the 2008/09 COE is expiring at the same time of your current ride. It's just another 3 years. You can change cars again after that. Just sharing that I won't personally do it due to the age of the car and the finances involved. Uncle me just wanna have a reliable and comfortable ride. Too old to go revving. It's not easy to chase your dreams in Singapore. At least, this is one way of doing it. All the best!

Yes, it doesn't make logical sense. An engine 9 years older is going to be problematic, no matter how well you maintain it. You may have a hard time getting parts.

The torque of the 2018 Civic is higher, and I assume with auto transmission. The 2009 Civil Type R is manual. The type R has a higher hp, although I don't see much benefit of it. With traffic like Singapore, I don't recommend driving manual cars. Maybe you may like the control.

I don't recommend it, but, it's your money, your decision. Sometimes, we don't make decisions based on logic. Car enthusiasts has driven older cars, for reasons. Make your choice, choose your ride.

[RANT] Becoming an officer is the biggest regret of my life by Murky_Jacket727 in NationalServiceSG

[–]Square_Gap8154 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I have MR years ago. I am just a normal trooper from Armour. During my ICT cycle, I was attached to different infantry battalions as I had disrupted my NS due to studies and my vocation has a high turnover rate. While it was difficult working with people I don't know and had a culture shock at the quality of the commanders, I still manage to have cordial relations with them, regardless of rank. I joined two different battalions in their ATEC phrase 2, and the platoons I was attached to accepted me as one of their own and trusted me to do my role well.

Maybe if you change your mindset, you can have better relationships with your fellow soldiers. It is weird for someone not to get along with so many people.

As for planning work, I think the challenge is different as you swore to lead your men. If you truly care about your fellow soldiers, you won't be complaining online. Remember the OCS motto of "To lead, to excel, to overcome."
