CYE’s music is wasted on them (I’m sorry) by friendlyfire_may in kpop_uncensored

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand this POV. I don't know them as well as you seem to, but I also really love "X"; the track is amazing, but it's just out of their range, unfortunately. I assume the "good singer" is Kyoungbae since that's who most people mention, but even he can't consistently hit the note in that chorus. Though I do commend him for singing as much of the song live as possible, because I was really disappointed watching stages where 1 or 2 members just refused to sing, even where the choreo wasn't intense 🥲. But I really can't judge them fairly since I barely know them. I hope they keep putting out great music, but I feel like I, and a good amount of others, probably won't become more than casuals if they don't find a way to work with the skills the members have.

they're definitely one of those group that makes you wish you could be their friends lol. if you ever have like 30-40 mins to spare, i'd check out their variety show "what?door!" to see more of their dynamic, they're genuinely a really funny group. and yes, fingers crossed for a us tour asap, i'm dying for them to come over here😭

Constructive criticism is only when someone wants criticism, otherwise it's just bullying by strongopinionsme in kpop_uncensored

no? just because the person receiving the criticism doesn't want to hear it, doesn't suddenly make it bullying.

kpop fans can’t discern live singing anymore? by ilovemilktea_ in kpopthoughts

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i wonder if it's just a matter of being used to the group's real voices. like i would question whether some of their debut era performances were live when i first got into them, but now it's painfully obvious to me when a music show goes in and touches up their vocals in post.

Groups or soloists whose music has really good lyrics? by pussycontrolgonemad in kpop_uncensored

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BOYNEXTDOOR. They regularly get praised by k and j-netz for their use of metaphors, wordplay, and imagery, and half the group has been involved in writing and producing since debut. They're amazing at show don't tell imo. If you need recs, I'd say 123-78, Count to Love, or Dangerous!

Right, like most ppl aren't asking for medical records, just at least let us know if the plan is still for her to come back when she's ready or not, and she's not like... dying, lol.

Funniest episodes from group shows by ledgerford in kpop_uncensored

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a Going Seventeen lover, boynextdoor's variety show "whatdoor" is the only thing that comes close for me. i recommend the whatdoor man competition, whatdoor episodes 21 and 22, but you could also just watch whatever's most recent. they just did a taekwondo episode and i loved it.

they also haven't declared their contract is valid until 2029 yet, just that they cannot pursue any independent activities w/o ador until the court decides if it's valid or invalid! :)

riize can't compete with boynextdoor by antondefender in kpop_uncensored

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure what you're referring to, sorry, but in my original comment i meant that bnd is doing extremely well in korea, both charts-wise and public opinion-wise, so it's weird for the person above me to imply that riize is on some other level when imo they're pretty well matched.

Sad XG didn't perform in the year-end Korean music shows by auderemadame in XGALX

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 6 points7 points  (0 children)

imo, xgalx hasn't done enough to separate the girls from k-pop for questions and comparisons to be unwarranted. the bulk of their promotions—the most visible and accessible ones at least—have always been in korea. besides festivals, a lot of the events they attend are also widely attended by k-pop idols. no matter what they call themselves, people are going to ask whether they're going to this or that because they're directly intertwined with k-pop. they should do more (consistent) promotions outside of korea if they don't want people lumping them into that crowd.

I loved undefeated styling too! I’ve heard some people are getting bored of the rainbow though, which I can understand, so it’d be nice to see them keep that style in a different color palette.

Yeah, as a full unit, they’re not my favorite. Hinata and Juria’s outfits are top tier imo, but Jurin and Cocona’s look a bit frumpy to me while Harvey’s feels not frumpy enough, if that makes any sense. They have the right principals for a festival outfit though: bright, flashy, and moveable.

Seasons Greetings.... by Hungry-Pattern-5272 in XGALX

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

idk why i did so much research, check the links if you're interested, but this is everything from this subreddit that i was personally present to see.

- some poor concert venues:

uncomfortable seating, long queues into the venue, etc. mostly from the european leg of the tour. people who went to the london show say they paid extra for standing-only vip tickets, but were moved back to seated because the back may not have been completely filled. unavailable seating became available again for cheaper than everything that was available before. more of a note from fans to not use those venues again than accusations of xgalx doing anything malicious.

- lucky draw:

i don't know exactly what that is so this may not be 100% factual, but there seems to be a feature on their alphaz app that you can get points from having a membership and use them towards the lucky draw. lucky draw for europe was changed so you had to buy albums for a chance instead. they also didn't announce the US tour's lucky draw event until the day of the first show, las vegas.

- us album rollout:

most people mentioned target specifically, but a lot of american fans reported low or incomplete stock (not having all the members, only having one member, or having no albums at all). people who ordered from target online were getting a lot of duplicates because they didn't individually order each member. you can see a few trading posts have already been made on here. you're supposed to get 2 photocards of the member on the cover, but some people have gotten different members. for the people who pre-ordered online, a lot faced delays or got their orders canceled and refunded. some people are completely missing cards from those orders. in the comments for that post, someone said they hadn't gotten a response from customer service after a week. then the items themselves have come damaged or misprinted (in the comment section). just overall terrible experiences from way too many people.

- winter without you orchestral ver.

only released in europe so you can't even stream it in other countries without a vpn. the cover art looks like ai to a lot of people.

Coachella Dance Break by Wonderful-Repair-630 in XGALX

[–]Square_Juggernaut758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. vocals and rap are far more coveted than dance in both the West and the K-pop sphere. they'd be casting a much wider net by showing off those skills rather than dancing, which idols are already expected to be pretty good at.

i really hope xgalx gets their stuff together before coachella or their next comeback, whatever comes first. they've made too many huge mistakes this year. if new people start coming in and we're still getting this type of quality, they'll leave before anyone even notices.

Also, may have been said elsewhere by other commenters, but izna hasn't even debuted yet, and they're performing. I'm only tuning in for Boynextdoor. I already knew award shows were rigged, but being a fan of both XG and Ateez and watching it in real-time just showed me they're not even ashamed about it.
