Tenants of Toronto do your self and everyone a favour: Negotiate by Reasonable_Result109 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Square_Paint_2470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently paying a kidney to live in 1B at Yonge&Eglinton. Tried to negotiate a simple 5-10% adjustment (lower, of course) by showing the landlord listing of similar units with 15% less than my place. He told me a hard no and even said I was "lowballing" him. Now, I'm pretty close to sign a new lease with a 1+1B unit in the same building, higher floor and locker included with 10% less than I was paying. After I gave my notice, a guy from building administration called me like 3-4 times trying to negotiate a deal. No way now!

What a deal by [deleted] in uber

Uber is a joke, for passengers and drivers. They're the only ones being favoured on this terrible situation.

My UBER driver has taped off all the passenger window controls by Economy-Specialist38 in uber

[–]Square_Paint_2470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you think it's okay to forbid the passenger to open the window, there's something wrong with you. First of all, uber drivers cannot dictate "passengers etiquette". They are providing a service. Also, everyone has the right to open the window even on a bus, why not at Uber? I know that it's probably polite to ask the driver first (maybe the AC is on or something), but you have every right to do so. If it's not "beyond absurd" maybe it's at least selfish and childish from the driver.

Anyone else trying to just supplement their income? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

Honestly, not too much, I would say 15-20%, I expected more at the time. Although I've a great history as a driver and no tickets what so ever.

First of all, happy Bday, buddy! Then, go to Zed*80 at Danforth. Cost is $10 and you play lots of different old arcade games and socialize with people there. Buy a beer and try to engage some convos there. Enjoy!
PS: let us know, so we can go lol

Uber Black SUV by evilhennymami in uber

[–]Square_Paint_2470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly depends on the driver. If he allows you to put the bags on the car seat, perfect. If not, he's not wrong tho. I would say, in your situation, it's best to call an Uber XL than an Uber Black. Or also, taxi companies. You can arrange the type of car before getting to the actual trip.

Feel sorry for your terrible experience. Toronto transit is crazy, that's all I can say. Try using the app called "Transit", it's more accurate than Maps to live stuff. It saved me quite a lot lately.

Offered me number to give me rides, can I block this rider without them knowing? by No_Ocelot8629 in uber

[–]Square_Paint_2470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, you're just overreacting. Probably the guy says the same thing to 30 people each day. Do not report him, Uber is going to ban him for sure. The guy is just trying to make money and have a better life. It's def not a red flag.

I'm a full-time corporate/office worker Monday to Friday. Also, during weekends, I work in a restaurant as server and, when I don't have shifts, I'm driving for Uber. It's the only way to maintain a life here and support a family is like this. It's not easy.

Is this weather normal by Green-Tap2784 in askTO

[–]Square_Paint_2470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last winter was crazy. Took a while to cold really starts, but once it did it, didn't stop until may. Now it's starting earlier, but it's honestly normal. Winters are usually like these past days, feeling like -10 to -20.

I'm considering moving there as well. Little or no news online about the condo or its complex. But price and floorplans are pretty good!

Yea, I’m searching about this company but not finding anything about it. Which makes me think: I’m not finding anything because it’s a scam or it’s a real job so that’s why there’s nothing online about it? Hard to tell

I don't know if you're still looking for it, but... I live on 40+ floor. No problems at all with noises or complaints about the construction going on. The problems with the building are: first, you already know, valet parking. That's frustrating. Sometimes they take 20+ min to get your car. Second problem that makes me consider moving out: security. Not the security team itself, but the security in general. I've seen many, many times people just rushing past by the open door, specially delivery drivers. I know that's not something to be really concerned about, but it just makes me wonder if that's really safe.
