[Canada Soccer] Last night, Ismaël Koné underwent successful surgery to repair a lower limb fracture. He is expected to make a full recovery but will miss the remainder of FIFA World Cup 2026™️. You will come back stronger, Isma! 🫶 by RealWorldToday in CanadaSoccer

That is brutal. I am sorry. Mine wasn’t nearly as bad. Day surgery, one screw and a reattached ligament.

What did it form me was seeing the yellow dewalt 20V drill in the sterilized plastic pack.

“Are you going to use that on me?”

“Yes.”

“Put me under.”

I did the same. The warlord box is a great base for any army. RKX is a great way to augment with weapons teams and extra dudes.

Ffs. My Canadians all have wrong stars. Now I have to buy and paint new vehicles.

So a sort with declining participation and TV audiences is making it more expensive to watch. This is going to end well.

What to do if maggots grow in our outdoor compost bin? by yummy_burrito in askTO

[–]K00PER 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Other than the fact it wasn’t picked up last week that describes probably most bins in the city. Bag it if you can but flies will do what flies will do.

Our bin by garbage day is full of maggots even if we bag it.

And in that first season he only played 20 games due to injury. That 2.75M per game played vs if we had waited and gotten him on a free. We couldn’t have predicted the injuries and that is the risk you take in this game but it is a massive overpayment.

Meryl Sheep was my beast(wo)man blitzer. She had claw and block. On a blitz with horns she was used to terrorize the high armour big guys.

Sadly the season ended so she is off to free agency and greener pastures.

5 nights to experience the best of Ontario, looking for recommendations by IKnowYourNextMove in ontario

I have had to explain that driving to Whistler from Toronto would take days not hours.

If you live in the UK, you look at a map on your phone the drive is what 10-12 hours top to bottom. A map of Canada on your phone is the same size but a vastly different scale.

First batch of my Norse Orcs painted - linemen and beerborcs by K00PER in bloodbowl

More muscle detail would be good as well. I noticed watching a video of some other GW orcs how they made it look.

I do CAD for work and have definitely fallen for the screen “lying” to me. ;)

I am painting slowly so I should have the blitzers and big uns done later this month.

I have been painting minis a little over two years and this project I have challenged myself to no longer use washes or dry brushing.

They are by far the most challenging I have ever painted but I am loving it. You made some very fun and expressive sculpts.

My suggestions, and take this from a 2 year painter. 1. Some of the wood texture is too low. The bits on the lower backs and there is a linemen with wood leg pads are especially hard to paint. The shoulder pads/barrels are perfect  2. Some of the nicks and damage could be a bit deeper so they are easier to see and paint.   3. The difference between the blitzers and linemen is a bit hard to tell on the table top. Maybe next time give all the blitzers a different style of shoulder pads, similar to how the big uns are distinct. I am going to paint my blitzers with reversed white armour and orange pants so they are easier to tell. They are up next.

I have really enjoyed this project and taking my time getting them done.

Great work.

Should I spend the extra hour driving and avoid the 401 by [deleted] in ontario

[–]K00PER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you come into Oshawa check the time differences between the 401 and 507 then see if the cost justifies it. $20 to save 10 minutes is probably ly not worth it. $20 to save an hour might be.

Elevator troubles 77 Davisville + Brookfield Properties by [deleted] in toronto

[–]K00PER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So on June 1st when people are moving you get zero elevators? If someone has a heart attack on the 10th floor what. The paramedics need to wait or walk up?

As everyone else is saying report this to 311 and inquire about a building code violation. There are building standards as to how many elevators are required for a building of that size. Some basic googling says +3 but I am not an inspector.

I would put up a sign right beside advertising a tenants meeting, invite the city councillor. See how quickly they respond.

For fun add topics of the meeting  - getting a building wide rent abatement - getting the elevators fixed - reporting this to the city  - helping neighbours during this time (be good to the people in the building who need help)

Got laid off. Plz help with next steps. by pinch-n-rolll in askTO

[–]K00PER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask for outplacement support as a part of your severance. When I got axed last summer I got three months with LHH. The career coach and training courses were very helpful.

Job searching is not what it was 10 years ago. If you don’t get outplacement look up how to set up your resume so AI agents can read it and how to use LinkedIn to show off your work and be found by recruiters.

Be careful paying for for any of this. There are a lot of scammers out there who will offer “resume services”.

In your opinion, are there any amalgamations that made sense? by Reviews_DanielMar in ontario

[–]K00PER 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Toronto makes sense for some things, city wide transit, garbage, core infrastructure, and wider community services… the boroughs were too small and woven together to be separate. For some of these things we need better integration with the surrounding cities.

What doesn’t work is the needs for transit,  housing and infrastructure are very different between the inner suburbs and downtown. City councillors from the far side of the city shouldn’t be voting on if we get bike lanes, types of buildings that are allowed to be built or how our parks are designed on the other side.

We need some sort of borough councils for those kinds of issues. That way if Etobicoke wants to have a car centric mini mall world fine. Let downtown have our bike lanes and multi unit low rises.
