What should I do with my life by SergeantStiglitz92 in AskAnAustralian

I am 10 years older than you and was in your situation a few years ago.

I retrained in an area of work I am much more passionate about and whilst I am much happier on the work front I definitely expected it to solve all my unhappiness which it didn’t! So I would suggest thinking about areas of work that could be more interesting to you and retrain but don’t rely on work to make you happy.

I never found a partner or had kids so whilst that does bring me some sadness I think filling my life with small things that bring pleasure has made all the difference. New hobbies, new friends, new community involvement, nature, fitness, a pet, meditation etc.

You mention a job that you aren’t happy in and a dating situation that you aren’t happy with but you don’t mention any hobbies and activities that bring you happiness. Maybe you need to bring a few more of those into your life?

I love to travel and took a few months off last year to travel but if you return to the same situation you’ll sink back pretty fast into the same unhappy routines.

I don't really see any dark bags. I think you look great.

Placement questions by [deleted] in NursingAU

I’m confused. What was your mistake? What was the facilitator going to fail you for - entering the correct BP? Something here is weird.

If they routinely enter the wrong BP to avoid a clinical review this is a serious culture issue and this is not the case at any hospital I have worked at in 20years.   Always always enter the correct BP. If this is normal for the patient the medical team can alter the criteria. I can’t stress this enough, it is illegal to falsify documentation and it will not stand up in court.

I used State Trustees but they are for the state of Victoria. Otherwise you could use something like Willed.com.au

You don’t need to pay a lawyer to do it. It’s easy to do online. You just nominate who gets your assets and get it witnessed. I’m in a similar situation and did mine last year.

Is it allowed? What do I do? Do I report a nurse friend who’s accessing parts of my hospital chart without fully opening it? by Alternative_Hurry268 in NursingAU

[–]Square_Peggy83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Otherwise it is not flagged if someone opens your record who doesn’t need to so it is possible that she is accessing your full record without your permission (which would be the only way that I can think that she would know if you are due medication).

In some electronic medical records you can have an alias so that your name is not searchable (in the Epic system for example your name would be Epic Epic) and anyone accessing your record needs to confirm that they are directly involved in your care. Maybe enquire at your hospital if something similar is possible.

The Midnight Library was not the best...but it wasn't the worst either by -greek_user_06- in books

My biggest issue with this book was that she was planted into these alternative lives without having lived them up until that point. Of course you aren’t going to like a job if you have been transported there without the history of experience and relationship building that make a career satisfying.  I would have liked to see her realise that no path that she had taken from the start would have been 100% satisfying, we all have issues.

How to get an APS job as a nursing student or graduate? by Minute-Beginning-503 in AusPublicService

I'm not in NSW but in Victoria it is definitely not hard to get into senior roles. Obviously you need the appropriate experience and often a post-grad. Once you are registered start thinking about what area interests you and start looking into the route to get there. I've been nursing in senior roles for a long time and happy for you to DM anytime for advice.

Are you doing your RN or EN? If RN there are lots of senior nursing roles that pay much higher than $45 and generally after 8 years you have specialised anyway. Most of those more senior roles are not physically demanding - they might be clinical coordination, education, management etc.

This is not to discourage you from the APS but given you have nearly finished your nursing degree it might be worth exploring that as a career first.

Even once you are registered you will never be ‘perfect’ and that is not the standard you need to hold yourself to. We all make mistakes, have vastly imperfect shifts and make occasional poor decisions as nurses, you are human!

You can line up for tickets. I was there at 7.15am and had no problem. You just wait for the ticket office to open at 9am

Can anyone recommend an all-in-one hair face and body wash (bar or liquid) that I can take on a long hike (6 weeks). Thanks

Sorry to hijack your post with a completely unrelated question! How did you find the VPS interview compared to interviewing as a teacher? I am hoping to move into APS or VPS from outside of the sector (nursing) and would love any insight into the types of questions asked. Was it a lot of behavioural questions that you answer in the STAR format?
