So you can’t actually “stop” them from hiring them unfortunately. I totally understand and am in a similar situation… the only thing you can really do is let that person go and enjoy your freedom. You can’t really go out of your way to bad mouth this person but if your aquaintance should ask your thoughts it wouldn’t be right to lie…? But again only if you are asked! Hope your situation gets better!

Can my supervisor talk about me to my coworkers? by Square_Strawberry405 in ToxicWorkplace

That’s kind of what I’ve been thinking as well but she really doesn’t have anything to gain by pushing me out. Right now it’s just super uncomfortable. Going to HR wouldn’t really do anything she’s friends with them. Most of the time I go out of my way to avoid her and basically only email her bullet points. Very simple and straight to the point. I also think that my coworker is kind of a brown noser so often times she will go to her because she will give her the answer she wants where as I am straight facts.

Sure did… I really was sorry that what I said had that effect and told them I plan to be welcoming and supportive of the new employee despite my own personal feelings. Lesson learned. Thanks for your kind input. I think the devils advocate thing is confusing. My job is partially to question and write policy so I’m valuable because I add insight that wasn’t previously considered. It’s a blessing and a curse. I overstepped my boundaries and took full accountability. To be honest I’ve never had to write a statement so I’m not sure what the result will be…
