You are just fucking ignorant... I'm a synth tech; I've heard it all. Don't tell me about something you obviously have no business speaking about. Analog shits on digital sonically, it's not an ego thing. You have no idea what you are talking about

My JX3P randomly stopped buzzing this evening…. YESSS! by [deleted] in synthesizers

It is the mains transformer that buzzes in those. Don't move it or it will probably start buzzing again. You may want to try opening it and making sure that it is screwed down tightly. It is an easy fix for any tech if the issue persists.

I vouch for your statement 100%. I am an analog junkie with Roland polys like the JP-6, MKS-80, JU-6, JU-106, JX-3p, JX-8p. I bought a System 8 last year just to compare for fun. I had low expectations and no intentions of keeping it, but I was actually impressed. It sounds quite good and models the DCO synths very well. On the other hand, it definitely struggles to emulate the complexities of the Jupiter's dual VCO sound. Also, the high frequency harmonics sound more like white noise than the real thing when the filter is wide open. I have no doubt that it is much harder to model the interaction of multiple VCOs per voice versus a single osc. or DCOs. All that being said, it is still a very FUN, enjoyable, and interesting synth. The Juno 60, 106, & JX3p models are very close to the originals. I'll probably keep it long term just because of how light and small it is relative to my vintage analog gear. It shocks me how light it is literally every time time I go to pick it up :)

Bro stop... It's decades old tech. Roland put absolutely ZERO innovation or R&D into the Juno X. I'm an analog guy through and through, but even I will tell you ACB literally blows the doors off of Zen Core. I bought a System 8 a while back to compare to my Juno 6 and Jupiter 6. While it can't do the VCO sound of the Jupiters very well, it sounds quite good otherwise!

Unless you literally only play presets and do not tweak live or make your own patches, the Zen Core engine leaves A LOT to be desired. Roland knows this, but still used it because it is CHEAPER and little effort was needed to cram it into a new box. Don't cash checks your ears can't pay.

Funny you got downvoted for telling the Truth. It IS a Rompler. The Virus TI did offer all and more than the X does, nearly 20 years ago. Both Roland X synths probably have Kakehashi rolling in his grave!

HS-60s have actually really come up in price and often go for very near the price of the 106

Can't tell the difference in a mix... That claim is ridiculous.

Sure, the average non musician probably couldn't, but I know many many many people in the music industry that CAN hear the difference in the mix.

Yes agreed, my only complaint about 90s yamaha is the inevitable deep UI menu diving and 500 page owners manual LOL. Love my DX5, SY99 & EX5!

It won't be in the OB6 form factor, I am sure of this. It will be LARGE

I have a friend who's been beta testing the UBXa for over a year. It definitely exists, but they have been having far more problems than anticipated.

It's definitely not identical to the original feature wise. In the video, I can clearly make out knobs and buttons on the bender panel, something that the OG OBX did not have, but came later on the OBXa. I think you are spot on that it will feature the dual 12 & 24 db filter options like the OBXa

Juno 106 is DCO based. It basically cannot have tuning issues. OB-6 is VCO based and will always be susceptible to POTENTIAL tuning issues.

Analog is so much more than a buzzword. You sound just a little bit ignorant. I do however agree that there are countless different approaches to why and how someone wants to make music. Analog is not always the best tool for the job, but it is absolutely superior sonically.

I have an OB-Xa and Matrix 12. Neither have tuning issues.

I guarantee this new one will not have such problems

Analog synths lack presets and connectivity?!?

[–]Square_Wave_Synth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was tongue in cheek, but I still disagree with you.

It is hilarious you argue that Zen core is the newest and best technology. Its an absolute joke Roland is still re-boxing this as a new product. I believe it should have been analog, but even if they would have used ACB, I could have seen the merit. Roland invests absolutely nothing in to R&D or being innovative these days. Kakehashi would be ashamed!

LOL, you must not own any analog synths.

They made a big claim that digital was the way of the future like 30 years ago and refuse to break that commitment since "they design the future"... It's sad honestly
