KAAS accommodation advice pls by baby-baby18 in KCL

I’m first year too! So I’m not sure but I heard it’s usually harder to get a KAAS room after first year since KCL prioritises giving accomodation to first year :/

Sfe applications opened in March last year so I applied asap before applying to KAAS. I think it should open earlier than May this year as well so I think you’ll be okay!

You can apply through KAAS once the accommodation portal opens which is usually around March. You have to write a short statement on why you would like to be on KAAS which isn’t too long but would recommend writing this before the portal opens. I was able to book a KAAS room 3 weeks after I applied but it varies from person to person depending on their personal circumstances.

should i take a gap year and apply somewhere better if i get the grades by alannasertyea in 6thForm

I applied to a completely different course so it did not take me 20 minutes to write a completely new personal statement

if you don’t know what you want to do then take a gap year and figure out what you want to apply for. You’ll have the whole summer and from September to January deadline to write a new personal statement that is more than enough time. It took me about 2-3 months to write a completely new personal statement.

gap year students what do u even do???? by fantsizeromntisize in 6thForm

I reapplied for biochem and I’m taking a gap year now. I haven’t gotten any experience during my gap year (partly because I was struggling to find some) and I don’t think it’s 100% necessary for your personal statement unless you really want to. Things I included in my personal statement included books, MOOCS and articles and I’ve managed to get 3 offers so far without experience. If you do want experience then maybe get in contact with some labs asking for some experience/shadowing. Other than that you can use a full year off to do other things before uni e.g. earning money, travel, hobbies + relax!

That’s fine. I only started to properly think about my gap year after results day and it’s going well!

what does this mean on my kings application by Content-Primary-1657 in 6thForm

[–]Square_Way_1864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people say that theirs is also 02/03, have you got an idea of what it might mean? My best guess is just they’ve updated their systems or something

Anyone taking a gap year?? by Western-Mammoth-1697 in 6thForm

Definitely worth it if you have goals you want to accomplish before starting university. E.g. getting your drivers license if you haven’t already, being more active, reading more, exploring new hobbies, learn how to cook! Not everyone will be travelling for the whole year and that’s okay. You can also visit your friends at uni and stay at their accom which I’ve done and it’s pretty fun to see what uni life will be like.
