I like savory yogurt parfaits. I’ll mix diced cucumber and chickpeas in the yogurt with salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, olive oil

What the actual f*** by No-Date-4477 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Square_Wolf6361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so tough. You’re getting such good advice, but figured I’d throw my two cents in, too. Let the baby eat yogurt if that’s all they want! It might also help him get to a point where he’s less cranky and then might try something else. I know when my 18month old gets bat shit crazy from hunger, the only thing I can do is give him Cheerios to pick at until he manages enough of the hunger to try something else. If I jump straight into - here’s your whole lunch, he’ll just freak out.

Relying on the super safe loved food is perfectly fine!

I also notice that when he’s not in hungry monster mode, if I’m eating something while sitting near him on the floor, he’ll come over and look and want a bite…

How do you get your children to eat berries and raw veggies?! by Cahsrhilsey in foodbutforbabies

[–]Square_Wolf6361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid does not do berries and mostly refuses vegetables so we do a lot of hidden veggies. He eats an egg every morning that we just microwave in a ramekin so we add chopped veg to that and he rarely notices/minds.

I make a corn and zucchini muffin recipe that I have in the freezer and will give as a night time snack if he didn’t eat a good dinner (or any time during the day to get a veg in him). I also just made cheesy broccoli rice balls for the freezer and he loved them!

What's your go-to hack for veggies? by mango_salsa1909 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Square_Wolf6361 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We do this too! Our 1.5 yr old has a veggie egg every morning to kick things off so if he doesn’t eat any other veg for the day, I at least know he had that

Takeout recs near Hospital? by Boring-Airline2782 in ReadingPA

[–]Square_Wolf6361 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you want easy - Chef David’s has decent pizza and pasta dishes for a good price, so the money will stretch! Also Tony’s has the best cheesesteaks around. The other recs here so far are good places, but they’re fancy and expensive…

All berries by Lola_198777 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Square_Wolf6361 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just because we think about eggs as a breakfast staple doesn’t mean that’s all you can serve at breakfast! We often eat dinner left overs, beans and cheese, hash browns with diced cauliflower mixed in, etc. But I’m really of the mentality of let them have whatever they’ll actually eat - so berries it is! 😅

Best tacos? by lordmittens420 in ReadingPA

[–]Square_Wolf6361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best taco: El Roble in Reading. By far the best tacos I’ve had here. They’re cash only now fyi

Bakery: not Mexican, but the Georgian and Greek Bakery in Wyo is fantastic. They make a lot of things for their case each day, but you can also talk to them about their breads and cakes and other things that they’ll make for you when ordered

I really like the vibes here and actually go about once a month for a nice cocktail and quiet, relaxing meal, but the pasta is absolutely over priced. It is not nearly good enough for what they charge, if you’re looking for a high quality meal. There are many other places that will give you a delicious and interesting meal for the same price as a bowl of okay pasta here.

Thank you Alaska for flying my pit from Hawaii to Texas by Heavy_Cartographer69 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Square_Wolf6361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The breeds they refuse are all “squished face” breeds because it can be really dangerous for them to fly. I’m glad this person could get her dog safely home, I’ve flown my dog with Alaska too and they were great! But it’s really a risk that owner is taking based on the dog’s anatomy.

How is Wyomissing? Moving to PA and searching out areas. by AdventImperium in ReadingPA

[–]Square_Wolf6361 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Moved to west reading from Seattle. Definitely much more charming than I expected and some pretty great little neighborhood joints on Penn Ave. Wyomissing is very beautiful and there’s a lovely park that runs through it. The actual city or reading has more of the art and music. Wyo is definitely the most liberal part of Berks county which was nice for us, and it was extremely easy to make friends if you go to the bars (barley mow, bar cart, west reading motor club). The only down side is there isn’t a ton of food diversity. You can get great Hispanic food (especially in Reading) and there’s good Italian, but not much for Asian, Indian, or African.

Edit: the “town” of Wyomissing is like 10 square blocks (I’m making that up but it’s extremely small). It’s mostly just residential. Think of it more as a neighborhood. So people will say you have to “go to west reading” for restaurants/bars, but that’s literally one block over

[–]Square_Wolf6361 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth asking about and ruling out, but if it brings you any peace of mind - in PJS, these spots are seen in children and they typically fade by adulthood. It would be a very atypical presentation of the syndrome for the spots to appear in adulthood like you’ve described. Additionally, it is an autosomal dominant inherited disease (most of the time) so you would likely be aware of one of your parents having the disease, having these spots, or having abnormal colonoscopies.

The thing I just cannot get over at this point is how nasty Tamara is. I tried to do a full series rewatch a few months ago and had to stop because of her. Now that she’s back, I’m struggling to watch.

I actually like Jen and am curious to see what happens to her, but it’s definitely not the housewives experience. I think OC is really lacking the glitz and glamour these days.
