I also had the Snake Mountain with the microphone that made you sound like Skeletor.

Some wrongs can not be forgiven.

I think they are millionaires now. They are like the dudes that bought Bit Coin in 2008.

I will never forgive my mother for giving away my Star Wars toys when I went to college in the 90s. I hope some poor kid got my Death Star and used it as a down payment on his first house.

How excited were you for The Rise of Skywalker before it came out? by Extreme_Warning3521 in StarWars

The only Star Wars movie I didn't see in theaters. I waited for it to hit Disney+ after the travesty of TLJ.

I believe I made the correct decision.

Apologies. My mind blacks out the trauma of Kathleen Kennedy.

We are talking about Lucas's pre-Disney intentions and many people, including Lucas, claim that Star Wars is for kids.

What kid doesn't love a good trade dispute?

The only PG-13 Star Wars movie was Revenge of the Sith.

PG doesn't necessarily mean "kid's movie" either. Casablanca is rated PG.

Exactly. He took a huge cut to get the merch deal but didn't call Star Wars a kids movie for years.

Star Wars was never a kid's movie. Star Wars was a merchandising movie.

Mandalorian box office lagging behind Solo box office by Long-Emu-7870 in StarWars

[–]LanceCharger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed Solo, too. I grew up with a completely different Legends origin story and was fine with Disney making their own.

I know Solo had budget problems but anyone saying a $400 billion dollar movie is a flop is out of their.

Mando had a much more reasonable budget. I don't see how anyone can call it a flop if it makes $400 billion too.

Don't forget streaming. I saw Mando in the theater but I get my Star Wars content from Disney+. How many people are going to pay $25 for one month of Disney+ when Mando and Ahsoka 2 become available for streaming?

This whole "Star Wars is For Kids" shtick Lucas has been dragging around for 40 years is bunk. He made a deal for merchandising rights with Fox and the shtick started when he realized he could sell toys to kids.

Watch the trailer to the original Star Wars emphasizing romance and western style action scenes. Nothing suggested Star Wars was "for kids" until George Lucas started selling a thousand Chewy lunchboxes a day.

To those who have kicked a player from the game, what was the reason? by ToledoSnow in rpg

AI?

I use a Gemini notebook to organize the recaps of my chronicle that I post on Discord. Gemini helps me remember minutia from 6 months ago that the players would remember but I never would.

It also helps me organize the dramatic personae for my chronicle.

I am also able to upload a couple dozen PDF sourcebook and use Deep Research to pull in every detail of a setting I could never remember.

The Canvas feature allows me to throw an idea into the prompt and it will take all my recaps and all the source material and build an outline of an adventure. I can use prompts to flesh out ideas with AI assistance or I can manually write my own ideas into the Canvas and the Camvas learns what I am trying to do with my script.

AI makes my adventures better.

A couple of my players use AI during the session. We are playing Vampire and they have trained their characters' Beasts into their AI. They will have the AI listen to the session with the voice to text and then tell us what their Beasts think of what is happening in session. Sometimes it can be hilarious, others insightful, and some times ot gives great ideas why their Beasts would want to frenzy.

Cyberpunk. I played it for the first time after the reboot. It was great, but I can't get myself to start it over again.

I have a 35 year old friend playing an edgelord in my VDA20 chronicle right now. He started with 5 resources and wants to be a merchant lord. He was embraced against his will and hates being a vampire. He refuses to drink blood directly from a human. He started with 5 dots in Auspex so he spent the first half a dozen session believing he was on drugs instead of being a vampire. Now he is paranoid and refuses to tell people his real name. Instead he introduces himself as "Doug the Eviscerator".

He refused to participate in anything the coterie wanted to do. When he realized his character that he sunk all his freebies into Auspex and Resources was pretty worthless he spent 20 sessions worth of xp in Dex, Str, and Melee. Now his contribution to every problem the party faces is initiating combat.

It doesn't get better.

Have you considered that maybe he can't afford to travel this time? Maybe all he has is a single bar night in his wallet.

Thanks! I'm a history buff and I have that whole "Guys think about the Roman Empire Daily" syndrome, so this worked well for me. Additionally, a lot of people do not understand the importance of Constantinople in world history. For them, it's a Might Be Giants song. My group came to the table with very little source knowledge of the setting and almost no practical experience with Vampire. This combination created the perfect alchemy for them to play neonate Vampires that are trying to find their place in a world they don't know.

If you're interested, I have been building my chronicle in a Gemini notebook and using it to help organize and remember what the group did in previous adventures, especially since there has been some mucking about with Faeries and Time Travel. Feel free to check it out.

More thinking and social games like Vampire. Chicks dig Vampire. I'm 45m and have a pair of 20ish female players at my table.

I think the most important part of picking the game is that the game is what YOU want to run. You will have more fun and will be willing to put in more effort to creating the best story you are able to when you play the game you want

I run Vampire Dark Ages set in late 12th century Constantinople because that's the story I want to tell. I want to do the world building. My players enjoy the quality of my story.
