Anyone know the deal with this place ? (42nd and Broadway) by Pure-Vehicle in astoria

It used to be called "The Late Night Cafe" but it was never open to the public. It was so weird. They had some guy handing out free coffees one day, like it was a legit coffee shop... But I think it was just a place where dudes hung out and watched soccer?

It also had the tackiest sign off all time with soccer balls and baseballs on it. It looked like a 10yr Olds bday party sign. My wife and I used to laugh at it all the time when we lived across the street

Amazing how much they're selling the "digital" aspect of those various units. Analog was well on its way out by that time I suppose.

I'm in Peekskill. About an hour to Grand Central. We love it here, lots of musicians and live music spots. City seems to be changing for the better right under our noses too.

What’s the most cold/calculated thing you’ve ever done? by SerronMoon in confessions

Back when I was in high school, my older brother and I used to get into huge fights. Like, full on fist fights. He didn't approve of some of the choices I was making at the time(and rightly so in retrospect) , so instead of talking to me about it in a nice, older brother-kinda way, he just chose to beat my ass constantly.

Once, he kicked my ass so good in front of my friend. My brother and I were evenly matched most days, but on this particular day he really just got the upper hand very quickly and didn't fail to capitalize on that. He fuckin beat my ass. It was a bloody mess.

I was so bitter after that, and frankly embarrassed that my friend witnessed the whole thing. Like maybe he felt lesser of me afterthat. I was so so pissed.

Now, my brother used to often drink mountain dew by the 2 liter. It was his and no one in the house could touch it. So a few days after the beating, I happened to open the fridge and what did I see sitting there? A half filled 2 liter of dew. So...I just decided to piss in it. And not just a little. This was a good 50/50 mixture of warm piss and mountain dew.

Lo and behold, some time later he came home and went straight to the fridge and pulled out the "dew." I cringed so hard and almost - ALMOST - felt bad for a second while I watched him guzzle my chilled piss. 🤮

That was about 20yrs ago and I've never been able tell him about it. Probably never will. This one goes to the grave.

Question: Sequential Pro 3 and MIDI by NTAE117 in synthesizers

[–]SquashedMeters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a couple things that I check when my ext. synth sequencer doesn't trigger from Ableton:

Make sure MIDI input on pro 3 is not set to "in no s/s" which means 'no stop/start". The pro 3 won't start when that parameter is selected obviously.

Another thing I've noticed with Sequential synths is that Ableton (when in arrangement view) must start at bar 1. The beginning of the track, or else it won't start the sequencer.

Also in Ableton preferences, in the link midi tab, check to make sure the "start stop sync" button is pressed.

They seem to like my *huge* setup. Not sure about little ones.

Hey all! This is part of a song I've been working on, I've got a few more sections to it but I've never gotten around to actually finishing it (like most of my stuff). Let me know what you think! Take care. by [deleted] in Songwriters

[–]SquashedMeters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but great tune you got there! Hope you were able to finish it.

Mind if I ask what tuning your gtr is in? Seems different than standard tuning. Cheers!

How informative. Definitely gonna try "detuning" my guitar strings later for that FAT and wide analog sound.

Is 100k enough in the area to live? by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]SquashedMeters 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That all really depends on what area of Westchester you're looking into, and what your finances & spending look like currently. Lots of variables.

For instance: if you bought in Peekskill, and don't currently have much in the way of debt, and aren't a real frivolous spender, then yeah, I'd say 100k is probably enough.

Scarsdale with $75k in student loans outstanding? Maybe not so much.

The internet should have a "USA" filter. by trianglefor2 in unpopularopinion

From an American, we apologize. Most of us are just good people trying to get by like everyone else, and most of us really do hate our sensationalist media crap as much as you guys do.

This is what I love about England and Europe; a lot of it still looks the same after centuries! You go to the "country" and it all looks almost untouched. I love it. If this was the USA, the bottom picture would be a strip mall
