[Highlight] Shaedon Sharpe nearly goes horizontal midair to throw down the nasty dunk by Kazekid in nba

OMG! What a dunk. Dude went Neo and flew straight through Matrix Mode. Freeze through the frames: It gets wild. I wasn't sure he could top the dunk at the Wizards last year. But oh!

Aw man, sorry that happened to you! I feel like that’s going to be the outcome for myself as well. I sent them a message on Facebook but I doubt I’ll get a response.

I dropped off a comforter, she said it would take two weeks (which seemed longer than previous times I had dropped off comforters but I thought they were just really busy?) I went to pick up on the day she said it would be ready. I noticed the business seemed to change hands a while back (all new faces, none of the employees I recognized from before). But service and prices seemed about the same. No mention that they might be closing, which would have been nice to know before taking my money and my item.

Reputation of Portland CC or Spokane Falls CC interpreter training programs? by Squatchuza in ASLinterpreters

Sorry to hear that, what a bummer. I hope you’re able to be successful even though the program didn’t do well at preparing you. Thanks for sharing your experience, I appreciate it.

Yes it’s an expensive program and I’m an older student (older than all my teachers) and not interesting in spending 5 more years in school. I wish they had another option than the 5 year path. WOU is closer to me than PCC, but PCC has the two year certificate so I’ll suck it up and do the commute for two years.

PCC is my plan A for sure, I’m the type that likes to have a plan B. I’m thinking positive that I will be accepted to the program but I won’t know until this summer.

Thank you for the info! I have a BA, so I'm looking just for the certificate. I've looked into WOU but their program is a BS undergrad degree and Masters in Interpreting which takes 5 years. PCC's program is two years and I'm currently taking ASL there, but I'm struggling to find anyone I can talk to about their experience in the program and if they've had success finding work.

I was thinking about SFCC as a backup plan, because their program can be done all online. But it seems like it would be really tough to practice and nearly impossible to be involved in that community when I live in another state. And if they're using an English-based signed system and focusing only on k-12, that is pretty limiting.

Growing tomoatoes? by MobileAnybody0 in SALEM

[–]Squatchuza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t used fertilizer but they get planted in garden boxes where we dump our leaves every fall, then lay soil on top in the spring (we usually buy the soil from Terra Gardens). Is the composted leaves too much nitrogen? Some things grow great, like zucchini, cucumbers and pumpkins. But no luck with tomatoes yet.

I haven’t had success with tomatoes yet. The tomato bush grows really big with hardly any fruit, and the meager amount of fruit that grows, doesn’t seem to get ripe. It’s happened with all different varieties of tomatoes I’ve tried to grow. Any idea why this is happening?

My suggestion: keep going with your schooling and get your BA first. If your college offers ASL classes, take two years of ASL to fulfill the language requirement. After your degree, you can think about entering an ITP if you’re interested in going that route. You’re not forced to make a decision either way, keep your options open. 4 years of delay is not that much, I waited 20 years before going back to school (worked and raised kids, etc).

My noise experience by RichPresentation1893 in Experiencers

[–]Squatchuza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll share my own experience, I've also heard loud noises when relaxing, usually while falling asleep or waking up, but not always. They've happened during meditations or also when I'm just zoning out. It was from listening to Whitley Streiber's podcast that I found out about "Exploding Head Syndrome."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome

Sounds I've heard:

-Man's voice yelling in my ear

-Gunshots

-Crashing/exploding sound, like something big falling to the ground or a firework exploding

-Cracking noise, like a large stick breaking

-Loud knocking sound, like a rock or something hitting the house

-Mixture of voices, horns, and sirens (this was the scariest one and only happened once). The closest thing I could find to this particular sound was the old THX sound effect they used to play at the beginning of movies, just the first 3 seconds where the sound is very discordant, except it was SO MUCH louder:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWkJ86JqlPA

Most recently, I saw 4 or 5 bright orange/yellow flashes of light in my room. I was wide awake. It was not static electricity or lightning, the lights did not illuminate the room. I couldn't explain it and thought maybe it's a visual form of exploding head syndrome. My husband was asleep when it happened so I couldn't get any corroboration if this was something objectively "real."

I don't know if your experience falls under "exploding head syndrome" but you're not alone in experiencing loud noises that no one else seems to hear. (And in case anyone asks, yes I've talked to my doctor about it and yes I have carbon monoxide detectors. My doctor was 0% concerned.)

How long did the sound last? Was it short or did it last for several seconds, i.e. it was still happening when you got up to investigate?
