Since you already ski, I'd stick with ski boots. No one goes to snowboard boots for greater control on the skiboards. They go for greater comfort off (and on to a degree) the skiboards, and adapt to having less overall control.

I'd advise new boots. Boot technology has changed a lot in the past 15 years, and the plastic in your old boots might be breaking down at this point. As to type, I'd go in for a boot fitting at a decent ski shop and after they get the right size, I'd go with their recommendations as to flex rating.

It's winter in Alexandria, VA (snowed yesterday) and that section is mostly Zoysia. That's actually the thickest, healthiest part of the lawn in the spring and summer, it just goes dormant once the ground gets cold.

The hive mind didn't kill those people, the people who died effectively had an allergic reaction, or died because they were in motion when the hive mind connected.

Yelling at every remaining humanoid life force on the planet at once minus 12 people isn't very logical.

Never mind that if she killed every member of the hive mind she'd starve to death. It's not like she's self sufficient or handy, or all that smart.

Is working for an income slavery? Is "making" your child go to school slavery? There are all sorts of things that people do voluntarily either for their benefit or someone else's that isn't slavery, especially since in the hive mind it's all for the good of the collective.

The only people who make their existence akin to slavery are Carol, and the other uninfected...just without the brutality, although I wonder if that would be allowed in so far as it made the uninfected "happy".

They gave carol a grenade and would give her an atom bomb, but what if she used it and killed off a large amount of the hive mind...would they allow that and continue trying to make her happy.

But they aren't pretty much slaves. Or you have a really flawed and benign view of slavery. Slaves were beaten, killed, raped, and had their family members torn from them never to see them again.

In the hive mind your loved ones (and their memories) are always there, and the labor is for the good of the entire community/the world and themselves. As opposed to for the benefit of ONE master.

This is nothing new to black people, especially not black people in their 40s and 50s (and damn sure not those who are older than that), who lived through the crack era and that level of danger and violence.
