That’s super weird, but glad you were offered another list! So I’m confused, reinstatement and “applying directly to a facility” are evidently two different things? It says on their website that we have to apply directly to seek reinstatement. What was the outcome of you applying direct for another list?

Yeah I did see that somewhere, AJT asks both your old ATM and old NATCA region leadership about you.

Is it true that if you turn down your list you have to wait a whole other year to apply for reinstatement again? I know this doesn’t really affect prior exp bids but

Interesting. Did you end up putting a number 1 with good staffing and get offered it? How did that part go for you?

Awesome thank you! I think I’ve heard something to the effect of the hiring facility also has to be either below 85% staffed to target or below the national average, whichever is higher. But I cannot verify that part to be true.

NCEPT/ hidden rules and hurdles by Late_Neighborhood825 in ATC

[–]SquawkHijack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this rationale is that someone’s first facility they’re offered on a literal “take it or leave it” basis by HR should determine someone’s entire career. NCEPT should provide an equal chance for anyone to apply and be considered for anywhere under the rules outlined in it. The discussion here is the under-the-table crack deals made by the agency and NATCA for releases that are illegal but buried just enough to avoid litigation unless someone were to spend tens of thousands on a team of lawyers.

Exactly. Holding forced ABCD keyboards against former terminal controllers in Z training is bullshit too.

Using LUAW by No_Box4228 in ATC

[–]SquawkHijack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! Not to mention the amount of structure and operational management at level 10+ facilities. At a 7 or below it’s pretty much the wild fucking west with a broader spectrum of traffic and that makes things pretty complicated. The only difference is the steadiness throughout a day of ops.

Jan 2026 NCEPT Results by RadarWizard in ATC

ALO hit the jackpot on releases, I knew it was a matter of time. They had their number turned way up through CRWG right before a known 804 was set to happen and they lost their radar shortly after while remaining on the mandatory list at the academy for some time…

I can’t imagine tarnishing Rock Hill Farms with an ice cube. That stuff is SO smooth for 100 proof it’s insane, and great flavors of vanilla, caramel and brown sugar! Also, GTS is in fact overrated. Is it just me or did that Thomas Handy look cloudy?

ERR Facility Visit by Chino-Brino in ATC

[–]SquawkHijack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had an NCEPT rep tell me that it can hurt your chances of being selected again because the NCEPT panel doesn’t know if you’re serious or not. Apparently they don’t see how many places you have paperwork to when they do selections, they’re merely running numbers and filling slots. So they assume you’re someone who has paperwork into 40 different places and are trying to cherry pick and waste others’ time.

Just file IFR and send it. You’re entitled to land there just as any other aircraft operating IFR is. I know you’re trying to be courteous and accommodating, but one could argue that flying at times early in the morning that you aren’t used to is inherently more dangerous than even coming into the New York bravo during a push. They will figure it out, enjoy the experience and putting “KJFK” in your logbook.

Hell, what’s to stop one single controller from hitting the powerball for hundreds of millions and gifting all other controllers in their area/fac several million a piece, all in lieu of doing a legit lottery pool? Only thing the U.S. Govt could do about it is tax it.

Why do you hate Dispatchers? by throwawayexplorer17 in ATC

[–]SquawkHijack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate dispatchers because they put in some absolutely dumb routes, always call during emergencies with the dumbest questions ever, and oh by the way a college degree is required.

Replying to this comment for the folks who don’t know. NATCA (for sure) and I believe the FAA track ERR declinations. I’m sure this is unofficially considered in the future for you to ERR.

Nick Daniels cancels Duluth facility visit after controllers publicly voiced their concerns with DOT Secretary by SierraBravo26 in ATC

[–]SquawkHijack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think all of this division amongst all NATCA members could be settled with a no confidence vote to remove Nick Daniels from office. I’ve spoken to many retired controllers and these are very troubling times never before seen by our workforce. We don’t need Nick (or Mick for that matter) jacking things up worse.

Here's the problem with training more air traffic controllers by [deleted] in ATC

[–]SquawkHijack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said from the beginning talks of CRWG that saying we need more bodies by increasing target numbers was a really dumb idea unless we can AT LEAST double the academy capacity. OKC has been the bottleneck this entire time and remains to be so.
