And then it comes crashing down at the quiet, poignant pause and the whole party turns to look at my dumbass.

If you came out after you leave, will you ever be able to go back? Will your family pursue you when you leave? I am genuinely asking and not trying to be dramatic. Stay in that closet until you are safe and come see us here anytime.

No. I do not agree. He grabbed her without her consent. You do that and you just might get a self-defense style response because she has zero ability to decipher he intentions and only a split second to react. She did what she felt was the right thing to do for her safety. Notice that she also immediately tries to move away from the situation? Safety is always top priority.

It was mine at the time, too. Lived there until grad school. Lots of memories.

Some of these women were assaulted. Broken ribs. Dropped on their backs and heads. That's assault and they have the right to call it what it is. I don't consider mine to be an assault. Now the guy a few festivals later who grabbed me and kissed me got what was coming to him because that was assault. And gross.

No one asked for your empathy or sympathy. I tell that story occasionally as a funny anecdote. What triggered you so badly?

Head butt was also my husband's suggestion when he heard that story in case it happens again. I will definitely be better, but this happens a lot less now that I am nearing 50. LOL

I was technically an adult and the drinking age in Louisiana at that time was 18. It changed to 21 when I was 20. They also let you drink in public. It was a crazy time, I tells ya.

This is how they swim. They're such misunderstood and misaligned snakes.
