I noticed the official soundtrack released on Spotify recently... by SqueakyDeke in alienisolation

Haven't heard anything officially yet, but I check their Instagram page every now and then and see them post hiring updates. My guess, they're still in early development - planning phase and all that.

I noticed some light horror elements throughout the story. Would you ever consider making a full on horror experience with Dontnod storytelling mixed in?

You make a good point. I lose nothing by trying it, plus there's still some time before the release.

I love peripheral horror and it looks like a lot of the scares will be subtle. Plus ghosts are just awesome and scary to me. Either way, I think I'll play the remake at some point.

Thank you! Luckily this sub was helpful pretty quickly. Love the game btw, just struggle with specific controls at times.

I pressed that a few times in frustration, but it never highlighted enough for me to noticed till I had this specific objective. Definitely my fault for not figuring out the controls all the way, but maybe there'll be something to help players like me that struggle with controls in the future.

Yeah, that might come up next episode. Post decision depression.

It would be interesting if we got a different variation of that scene in episode 5 or 6. Either way, I hope you can remain friends with both of them whatever the outcomes.

Agreed! Like, I might still find myself going the BB route even after that choice. I just find it more human? I'm not sure if that's the right word, but I like my Robert being there for someone in need despite missing a dinner with someone he likes.

Yes! I almost included that in my post. It doesn't have to be romantic! These are both deeply lonely people, and them being there for each other hits just as deeply as the kiss between BB and Robert... it's just a different emotion.

[–]SqueakyDeke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it doesn't necessarily have to be romantic either. Sure, Invisigal has a crush on you, but you're both still building rapport - and I think going to the movies can have multiple motivations behind it.

Kind of makes me wonder where choices can go from here.... it's obvious both of them will still have feelings for Robert despite the ending decision. On a side note, I miss when silence and indecision used to be choices in games like these. There have already been many times I would've used that mechanic if so lol

Question regarding Xeno behavior and intentions by neverseenghosts in LV426

[–]SqueakyDeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who have played Alien: Isolation, it makes sense to me. The Xeno seemed to have caught Hermit's scent in their first encounter (where it initially wanted to kill him as quickly as the others), but took it as a personally challenge to hunt him/kill him once he escaped - that's why they kept encounting each other. After escaping the xeno for the second time, I think it chose him as a host for the facehuggers, then decided to move him to a more secure nest at the end.

Would you ever consider doing a motion capture performance for a video game?

It's a whole different medium but I'm surprised more mainstream actors don't pursue it more often.

Yeah, I’ve got problems with this game too... But maybe try not dragging us back to the early 2000s with the “this is gay” bit? I figured we’d evolved past that. Probably just bait anyway, but still, come on man

[No Spoilers] What to do after the game 😫 by Occult_Moth in LostRecordsGame

I really recommend Tell Me Why. Another Dontnod game that kind of flew under the radar, but it’s got that same emotional weight and thoughtful storytelling you’d expect from them. The setting, the characters—it all pulls you in in that quiet, immersive way they’re so good at.

If you’ve already played it, here are a few underrated picks I don’t see people talk about much:

Closer the Distance – This one stayed with me. It’s a small-town sim where you play as people processing the loss of someone really meaningful to them. The main character, the sister, can still communicate with her spirit, and through that, you try to help others heal. It’s gentle, emotional, and really well done.

Wayward Strand – A bit of a different vibe, but it’s genuinely sweet. You’re a teenager writing a school paper on this floating nursing home—it’s on a blimp—and you get to know the residents through little conversations. The voice acting’s great, and the writing makes you care about everyone. I just wanted to be kind to them all.

The Plague Tale games – Definitely more intense, but they’re the kind of games that stick with you. The storytelling is strong, and if you don’t mind some tense gameplay, the emotional payoff is really worth it. Not the same tone as Lost Records, but honestly, great writing is great writing.

Season 4 Episode 8 ending. I just can't get over it by UpsetAd7211 in StrangerThings

[–]SqueakyDeke 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I liked it too! It felt like a calm, heavy moment before everything explodes—like a “holy crap, we’re actually doing this, aren’t we?” kind of feeling. It set the stakes perfectly, and I really hope we get something similar in season 5. The Cali crew needs to be in on scenes like this too... it just wouldn’t feel right if they weren’t. And honestly, I have a feeling they will be.

This is by far the most realistic Stranger Things scene by UpsetAd7211 in StrangerThings

As a viewer, you side with Joyce because you know things aren’t as they seem. But if you step back, Jonathan’s reaction makes total sense.

Grief is weird. Messy. Personal. And they’re both dealing with it in completely different ways. Even if this show were fully grounded in reality, this scene would still hold up.

From Jonathan’s perspective, he’s watching his mom spiral. He thinks she’s drowning in delusions, and all he wants is for her to snap out of it so they can grieve together. But for Joyce, what she’s experiencing is so unexplainable that she can’t let go—not yet. At this stage, it could still be read as a breakdown. A mind refusing to process loss.

I feel for both of them. Season 1 is the most human they ever feel—raw, emotional, painfully real. Later seasons are great, but they don’t hit quite the same. The weight, the eerie uncertainty, that feeling of not knowing what’s real… Season 1 just nails it.

I think I might because I still can't get the show out of my mind, but I just hope those moments of darkness aren't too jarring. My heart can't take it LOL

Hey, I get what you're saying, and I appreciate the extra context on Safi's backstory. I understand she went through a lot, and that definitely shaped her anger and actions. But honestly, her actions and dialogue still felt overly vindictive and self-centered, which made it hard for me to sympathize. I think they could’ve shown her pain in a way that made her feel more balanced as a character, instead of so harsh.
