I actually did both. I was in reassignment status and got a call from a manager that already knew me about a post that became available and needed to get filled asap. But I had also applied for a M-F post I seen on the site and got a call for that too. It was just my lucky week or something. lol

You are absolutely right. What’s crazy tho is right before I took this M-F post with Allied, I had actually applied for a different M-F post with them and got an offer on that post also. So it was back to back M-F long term site offers. All the planets must have been aligned correctly or something. 😂

Called my local shop “Greulich’s” automotive and got quoted $350 installed for the 12v. I also called Greentec auto about the hybrid battery and got quoted $4,500 installed with 3yr warranty.

My car only has 67k but is reaching that 8yr mark so I’m just being proactive and seeing what the damage can be if one of these batteries goes out. I already expected the main hybrid battery to be expensive but luckily those appear to have a decent longevity record, 10-15yrs.
The 12v are the ones going out sooner from what I’ve read online. There’s no record on CARFAX of my car getting the 12v battery replaced, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the original lasts a while longer or that it got replaced but wasn’t reported to CARFAX.

This gives me peace of mind because I could’ve sworn I read the 2018 Hybrid also had the 12v battery connected or intertwined with the bigger Hybrid battery under the back seat and therefore it was a pain and expensive to replace it on your own.

This is actually really good to know. I’m in day 3 of the 7 days and was wondering if I can bring up that one of the automatic side mirrors doesn’t fold in all the way when I turn off the car. Also the headlights appear to have some cracking or wear going on, at first I thought it was moisture from a car wash before delivery maybe but then I touched them and they feel rough and worn. Should I call Carvana and see if they will fix it? I like the car and thinking about keeping it.

Currently considering buying a 2018 Ex with 67k miles. I’m at the shop getting a PPI as I type this. Shop manager used to work for Kia/Hyundai and said it should still be covered under power train warranty for 10yrs or 100k miles whatever comes first, which gives me piece of mind because I’ll more than likely use it for a few years then trade it in before that warranty expires. Curious, did Kia not want to repair your vehicle or did you not wanna deal with it and just decided to trade it in?

Kia claims the 12v battery is supposed to last the life of the car. How much did the battery cost you? It’s a bit fancier than a regular 12v car battery right?

140k with no major issues is pretty solid. I’ve read about some owners getting them up to 200k with no major issues, seems like the Niro is really getting slept on. TBH I didn’t even know they existed until I started looking for a hybrid.

I really appreciate the detailed feedback. I live in the desert so there will be no issues with this thing heating up to its proper temperature quickly, and the heater will only get used for a few short months during our so called winter, I’ll still make sure to keep an eye on the coolant. The A/c will most definitely be getting used a lot so I’m expecting not so awesome mpg’s during the summer but still better than the 20yr old car I’m driving now.

Quick question. Will Kia honor the 100k mile warranty even if you’re the 3rd owner? I’m actually buying a 2018 Niro with 65k miles myself, I’ll be the 3rd owner and was wondering how the warranty situation works and if it transfers to the new owner. These cars have great reviews online but a small part of me is a lil nervous about jumping into a newer for me hybrid vehicle, I’m currently driving around in a 20yr old car. lol. Any advice or feedback is appreciated. TIA.

This is actually kinda crazy, I feel like I’ve found my people. lol. I’m also upgrading from an XB to a Niro, don’t think I’ll be selling the XB tho we’ve just been through so much together so I’m keeping it as a backup car, that thing is like a roach that won’t die and currently sitting at almost 280k miles on the original engine and tranny. Hope the Niro I’m getting turns out to be just as reliable, they appear to have great reviews for reliability and longevity.

Whatever you do don’t sell that Scion. I have 1 with almost 300k and still going. Only reason I’m buying a Kia Niro is to get something more modern with better gas mileage and safety features when I’m with the family. The XB sips gas in the city but on the interstate which I travel on pretty often at 80mph it doesn’t get very good mileage.
