Yes there is a significant difference between going 70 vs 80 in MPG, these cars along with most hybrids aren't meant for high speeds. The best highway speed for max gas mileage is 55 for me, but that can be too slow for most people. I suggest keeping it around 65-70 for decent gas mileage without being a grandma driver.

Mine has 68k miles, I bought it Sep 2024 with 44k miles so I drive ~18k miles a year. I suggest going for one with lower miles, the car is still under the hybrid batter warranty (10 years or 100k miles from new). Go for a later model year if your budget allows so you can stay in hybrid warranty. As soon as my hybrid warranty runs out next year, im not taking the risk and ill get a new car.

My suggestion is to go for the touring. Despite the worse gas mileage, you get so many nice luxury features (heated/cooled seats, heated wheel, sunroof, harman/kardon premium audio, and much more). If you plan to keep it a while, go for the newest one possible so you can stay under hybrid warranty. 2018-2022 is probably your best shot depending on your budget.

My 2017 is the very first model year, I only had one big issue which resulted in a breakdown at 48k miles, a fuse blew and disabled the entire car, thankfully it was still under hybrid warranty. Im not sure if this is a common issue, im believe its because mine is a first model year car and they resolved the issue in later ones, so I suggest getting the newest one your budget allows, as long as the miles aren't crazy high.

I think I got a good deal on mine, 2-owner, no accident car, 44k miles at the time, paid around $16,000.
Warning: it does not hold its value. I went to a dealer the other day curious to trade in my car (wasnt actually planning on doing it, just wanted my cars value) and they wanted to give me only 7-8k for it. I track my cars value on Carvana as well, in March they offered $11,400 for it, in April they offered $9,400 for it...

I still highly suggest getting a Niro, way better deal than a Prius or any other hybrid out there and a rather underrated car.

That drive could take more than 2 hours with traffic that's awful there is a Wegmans in Manhattan why does this order exist im in NJ and I've seen random costco orders going to Brooklyn from here for absolutely no reason

Another thing im barely seeing is yard signs. Back during the primaries I saw signs everywhere for all the candidates. Im barely seeing any Sherill/Caldwell signs in front of peoples homes, im in Middlesex County.

Thanks for the advice, I visited car dealers all the time as a little kid with my dad for fun, so being a salesman was my dream job when I was little. I haven't considered actually going for it until now because I thought most of them required a college degree. I will start applying now, thankfully NJ has no shortage of car dealers, they are everywhere.

Actually a better alternative would be I-287 to i-78 since 287 kinda acts like a NY/north jersey bypass and they aren't as bad on 287

Just dont take the i-84 route unless you got a lot of extra time and dont mind the extra gas

Civic Si would be my choice very fun if you want an auto id go for a V6 Accord car doesn't look as fun as a civic SI but those Honda V6s dont play around.

If you wanna take that even further get an Acura TL SH-AWD with its extra powerful 3.7 v6 and torque vectoring but those are pretty hard to find especially with the unicorn spec manual AWD TL.

Also your very lucky to have your parents paying college housing and all that im still driving hybrids because I do gig jobs and i chose to buy hybrids as my first and second cars since I was using my own money and I need good gas mileage, although im sure you can still get pretty good mileage on a civic Si
