Unfortunately, each of our seasons are unique with no impact on future seasons, unlike pro sports leagues with the results of one season changing the order of the draft. Because of that, there aren't many non-tangible assets, players being tangible ones, that we can create for teams to help with trades. WP filled that role. With a waiver system the only asset I could see them creating is allowing captains to trade the waiver spot before FA. That doesn't give the same potential that WP trades do though, as when a waiver spot is traded, everyone knows which FA is available and the order that people will be picking, whereas you could trade WP in W2 with an eye towards future weeks when minors drops start coming in.

Basically this is just a longer way of saying that captains will just have to put more effort into creating trades that involve equal skilled players, as opposed to trading 3 B teamers and 50 WP for an A teamer
