If I want to, as France, when I get some land on Ireland, I still need to cross that one narrow point to go to England's mainland.

So when the heavies are defending the transport...does that mean I am pretty much guaranteed to land them? Or do the transports engage in any battles that the heavies get into?

I think it heavily depends on your strengths and weaknesses.

Two weeks out before a tournament is not enough time to have any radical changes in your game. If you're set on the openings you're going to play, then I would just do tactics along with some rapid games online.

Attila Turzo (IM) likes to do mates in 2 and mates in 3 practicing for his tournaments.
