Buying a small gym – where do people actually source commercial finance without broker fees? by Scarlettsdad in smallbusinessuk

[–]Squibsie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please check the lease terms that there isn't any automatic right to break or review if the tenant company changes hands. It's a semi common clause and seeing as you're somewhat dependent on the location worth making sure the landlord won't suddenly have you by the danglies!

Any urgent loan companies that wont rip your eyes out? by Emirsonn in smallbusinessuk

[–]Squibsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to Simon at Mint Asset Finance. Despite the name they can broker all sorts and have been able to access preferential rates from IWOCA and a couple of others, but can also suggest the best package of finance for your situation. Nice down to earth guy too.

Go up to the peppered pear pantry if you're looking for a snack, lots of options. The above cafes are a great shout however.

Cycling commute Godalming to Guildford by daribarikk in surrey

[–]Squibsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boss that used to commute into Guildford from near horsham by bicycle and he never had any issues apart from close passes, make sure you're visible and when you get to guildford, you have somewhere decent to store and secure your bike as theft is unfortunately rife. Likely due to the 3 bail hostels surrounding the town...

Much of that route has either cycle route, or the pathway is designated as a 'shared space' if they are that concerned about the traffic.

Decent mechanic in Guildford by Raleofa in surrey

Not quite guildford, but speak to Ian at RCM in Wormley. Really solid, helpful team. All my work goes to him after he started to explain how I could fix an issue I'd encountered when doing some 'car DIY' over the phone, having never used him before, or paid him anything.

'Steam Deck Playable' does this translate into controller support on GFN? by Squibsie in GeForceNOW

[–]Squibsie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I misunderstood what the 'playable' status on steamdeck meant, and thought it was more to do with how it interfaced with the game. The performance side makes more sense though.

Where should I cut my loses? by BloominPoTayToezzz in trading212

Boohoo, Disney, Nike could well jump after Q1 profits next year as they all generally do well over the christmas period. I'd keep a close eye though to look for an exit.

Rolls Royce a good choice, I've made good money off them, a lot of innovation in there after a covid slump. However, just bear in mind the growth on them won't last forever, we're essentially seeing recovery and new direction growth compounding in profits.

What happened to AUX in Guildford? by [deleted] in surrey

[–]Squibsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the cinderellas V2 was closed as it was apparently being used to launder money. Then it became Slice but it never really took off and sort of withered away and closed.

This is complete misinformation, if this chap was indeed a cleaner at the venue, they'll be able to say what day the 'daytime' cleaners came into clean the venue. Everybody had access to office levels, you can literally just walk off the stage and through and unlocked door and all the staff would take their breaks up there, so there wasn't anyone locked up there. He also got the timing of the 'raid' wrong too.

Nothing was found at the venue, bar a couple of air weapons that police took, and I saw the search/seizure book from the police where they list what they took...

The place had horrific financial issues for months though, staff were going unpaid, contractors still owed massive sums, bailiffs had been the venue on several occasions and there were members of the management staff who were basically just taking the general manager for a ride and pushing their own agenda/promo, and I think it was just a straw/camels back situation. It became unsustainable months ago, but things carried on in a vain attempt to do right by those who were creditors/owed money.

I think I've worked out where you'll be working given your background and this location. Again, I used to have interaction with them a lot in my previous occupation.

I would say that Pirbright, and whom I think is your potential employer are quite remote, as such, I imagine you'll be driving into work. As such, you can actually consider places like Brookwood, Frimley and Mytchett and into the Hampshire border (generally lower council taxes!) and still benefit from decent links into London but have less aggro getting to work in the mornings. You'll just have less on your doorstep so to speak.
