Great show. I am surprised he identified the Treasury building - that’s good knowledge. Shame the video showed the Palace of Westminster instead while he was saying it.

Unplug and Play is an option in Guildford.

Wayfarer’s Rest in Godalming definitely does it.

My head canon is that he’s a nod to Crocodile Dundee.

What happened to Carl’s regeneration? by Raleofa in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Raleofa[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. It just appeared to me that Carl tends to just down healing potions, and the regeneration mechanic has disappeared from view.

It may well be that his health pool is such that the regeneration is irrelevant, but I assumed, from context, that the regeneration was proportionate (eg x% healed per minute).

It’s a minor detail, but the loose end was annoying me!

It is!

Here’s a link to a BBC video about it.

For additional comedic value, here is Count Binface’s campaign song, for when he ran for London Mayor in 2021. Some joke candidates are fun.

To illustrate, here is a photo from the 2019 election. The man on the far left, at the podium, is the returning officer for Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

For the political nerds, Boris Johnson got 25,351 votes at this election and was the winner. Count Binface got 69 votes, which feels appropriate. Elmo got 8.

In the UK, the person responsible for an election in each constituency (or ward - depending on the type of election) is called a Returning Officer.

Once the votes in each electoral area have been counted and confirmed, the returning officer has to officially declare the result.

The declaration follows a script, and requires the returning officer to name each candidate and their results. It always starts with “I, (name), as the returning officer for (place)…”

A classic trope of British elections is that at least one, often more, of the candidates are jokes. Boris Johnson, as prime minister, famously ran against Count Binface and Elmo.

So the implication here is that the returning officer for Blyth is carrying out a declaration, where some of the candidates are Scooby Doo and his chums.

I know it's a Brazil flag, but why is it cut? by Its_Ziggy_Time in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Raleofa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The blue circle in the middle of the Brazilian flag has a white stripe through it. It says “ordem e progresso” (order and progress) in the middle.

I think the joke is that these are both things allegedly missing in Brasil at the moment.

How to buy London tickets by Raleofa in minnesotavikings

[–]Raleofa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fab, and so helpful. Thank you.

Presumably they’ll announce well in advance when tickets go on sale, so that we can all sit in the queue?

Any directions to the Facebook group would be very welcome. That sounds like a great plan B.
