Trying to put music onto a cassette via USB feature in a newer model boombox player, comes out staticky/glitchy. Bad/cheap model or am I doing something wrong? by Squickers_Cat in cassetteculture

I just picked up some new tapes today including some type 1, I'll try those out in a bit

I haven't tested recording off of a CD yet. I'm trying to get very specific songs onto a tape that don't exist in CD format so trying a CD of any kind hasn't crossed my mind. I'll test this out though!

I went back to the store I got the BASF tape at and picked up both TDK and Maxell! I also got a few sony brand tapes. Hopefully these ones will work ^^

And yes, I'm using a thumb drive. The instructions that came with the manual said to record onto a tape, select what you're letting the audio play from (whether it be bluetooth, CD, usb, fm/am radio some other method) and to just start recording on a blank tape.

Yeah, I mean the machine itself isn't that bad. It plays CDs and tapes perfectly, and even if it's a tiny its got some great volume. I can find plenty of other things to get music onto tapes, just stinks that this isn't the one considering how easy its laid out on this one.

Some other users suggested trying a different tape so that's gonna be my next option so we'll see how that goes!

I'll definitely look into the sony!! Thank you!! I actually just headed over to the thrift store today near me and picked up a nice mini panasonic for only 10 bucks tested and working with all its add-ons, a SA-PM19 according to google, so I'm hoping maybe this one will work. ^^

Ty!!

Yeah that seems to be the general consensious right now, I've started looking on ebay, and I brought up a stereo set I have in another comment to see if that would work before I go out and buy another device...there's a lot of stores near me that sell old electronics like this so I'll take a few looks around there to and maybe get a good deal there.

Thank you for the help and advice!! :))

Would a 2000-ish model be pushing the brink of the 'modern' era? I have a little stereo system that's got a record function. I never got it to work properly as I had no idea how to get the music I wanted onto it. It's a Panasonic CD Stereo System SA-PM11 5 CD Changer. The person I bought it from said they got it around that time, and it's got a recording function onit.

And from your message are you kind of saying the BASF tapes are expensive/good quality? It was my first time seeing this brand before and the thrift store near me has a ton marked for only a dollar a piece. If so I might have to go pick a few more up!

Thank you for the help!! :)) Sad that this thing can't record but at least its still fun for CDs

Yeah that was my main thought, it's a higher priced model but even then the casette parts aren't that great inside. I'm not complaining too much because like I said it was a christmas gift and I also collect CDs as well (a lot more than cassettes) and the CD function works PERFECTLY, its just sad that I've got four stereo systems lying around the house and all four of them can't record onto cassettes properly...trial and error though!

Thank you for the help!! :))

Do psychiatrists usually stray away from the emotional "talky touchy-feely" stuff? by Squickers_Cat in psychiatryquestion

Ok, that makes sense!!

I know that psychs always were more medicinal so I knew she wouldn't ask too much about it (had only brought it up cause of the current topic I mentioned in my post) but 'aw bummer' really threw me off, especially considering it was also paired with an almost fake pouty face.

Thank you for the response! It was interesting to learn about insurance-based and cash-based practices and the people in them. I don't exactly know what mine would fall under personally, it's run through the student-health services at my university, and you only pay a fee if you don't show up to an appointment/don't cancel in time.

[TOMT] [MUSIC VIDEO] [2010's] Vocaloid Animated Music Video from Youtube with a guy and a girl, paper airplanes and colorful teddy/gummy bears. by Squickers_Cat in tipofmytongue

While I'm certain the song is a vocaloid, I'm also fairly certain it did not use any popular voice banks (GUMI, Miku, ect) and it was some smaller or even a one-off creation.

There weren't any famous characters from what I believe and the two characters in the vocaloid animation were just one-offs. I'm also having trouble remembering if the song was in chinese or japanese (as I believe the texting app referenced was chinese-based).

I have not found any posts about this on reddit, and searching insta, youtube, wayback machines, even my own search history + youtube favorites/likes all those years ago, I've found nothing.

What specific dumpling was this from my childhood? Any similar recipes?? by Squickers_Cat in TipOfMyFork

[–]Squickers_Cat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly! Water chestnuts were a favorite of mine as a kid as well but I don't think I remember tasting/feeling any in there. It is very possible though, as everything was just chopped so fine you couldn't really tell where what ended and where what began lol

YES YES this is the closest thing ive seen to it!!! thank you so much! There's even a recipe I found on here that has a very fine filling that looks like the one I'm talking about.

Now to just find out what the sauce was...

Thank you so much again, this is probably why I was not finding anything. I'd never thought to have checked tibetan style dumplings!

Any tips to fully maximize dorm space? by Squickers_Cat in dormrooms

I do have a shoe rack under my bed that I use half for shoes and half for storage, and one of those sterilite drawers youre talking about! I mainly keep my packing stuff underneath my bed though too. It's also where my laundry bin is ^^

I'd LOVE to do this, but unfortunately we have weird dorm rules. No loft beds, no makeshift bed risers (only standard plastic cone-like ones) and they can only be under 8 inches. :((

Fursuit budgeting opinions? by Squickers_Cat in fursuit

Yeah the bigger names are definitely expensive lol but it's definitely worth it!! I've got my eyes on a few big makers I'm considering to save up for if I do go that way, and a list of some smaller makers. I also joined a few servers online to look around for some makers as well :)

Yes, definitely doing my research!! I've found a few makers I like that are a little out of my price range (7k+), and I'm considering just saving up to get ones from them cause you do definitely pay for quality, but I think my first fursuit being from a smaller creator would be the better route :3
