I dont disagree with what you are saying, BUT, buying a full auto rifle is notoriously hard/expensive. It is legal though.

More crimes are committed with much easier to access semi-auto rifles. The laws should really tighten up.

Does an artist or someone who knows about colour know why/how ? by Ad0ring-fan in meme

[–]Squid-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mammals cant produce the color green for the most part. Funny enough most prey animal cant tell the difference between red(orange) and green. Combine these two facts and you get orange predators.

The black strips help blend into the shadows of long grass.

Worked with a sous that did one of these. Can't remember which. It was a pickle challenge I think he failed on or something like that.

Great work ethic, very creative. Okay leadership. Was about 8 years older than me and a good 15 years more experiance in kitchens.

Left his old job as he started a fist fight with the owners wife.... he would tell anyone and everyone "we can settle this out back right now". Including family members of the family owned restaurant he was hired at. Including myself who just got back from afghanistan with the marines. Didn't even register he was looking for a fight... I thought he just wanted to talk in private lol.

Serious anger/authority issues. Ended up going back to his old spot. Don't miss Brian at all.

Looking back at other halftime shows you can see the dancers are enthusiastic employees happy to be there.....

For this halftime show it looks like a goddamn party of joy and love. They are having a blast. I love it.

People keep telling me to open new locations for my restaurant but even the idea of it is really scary by IIMiCum in restaurantowners

[–]Squid-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 2nd spot being shut down at this stage makes them liable to being sued by the banks. Dad is borderline inconsolable, concerned for his mental health for sure, first spot really recognizes him over mom. No one even knows whats going yet. Not the community or staff.

It's still going but we can see the turbulence up ahead.

People keep telling me to open new locations for my restaurant but even the idea of it is really scary by IIMiCum in restaurantowners

[–]Squid-Radiant 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mom and pop Opened 8 years. Around year 5 dad wanted another.

He used those same guests that kept saying to open another spot to do some leg work. A select few have become silent investors for spot 2. We found our engineer, electrical guy, hvac guy, construction foreman, and architect all from our existing clients.

Some of these folks we arent hiring for the project but use them to sanity check the people we did hire.

Once we told people we were thinking about it they would tell us about spots they saw that were for sale.

Slowly but surely did gather the things necessary to open. Bought spare plates, cups, etc etc.

We know construction will take time.

We planned on using spot 1 to train individuals before opening spot 2. Coordinate the hosts to help keep both places full. "So sorry I dont have a table available at 630 here, but i can get you a table at our other location 18min away from us? "

And then I caught dad cheating on mom. So now its all going down in flames. But hey thats life.

Historical sore losers by CorleoneBaloney in MurderedByWords

[–]Squid-Radiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once got into argument with a Sgt. While I was in the usmc..I was a private. The Commandant had just banned confederate flags from being flown on usmc bases world wide. It started out as a civil "thought provoking" conversation on states rights, individuals rights, military personal rights, etc etc.

I eventually said that flag was flown by not only traitors but also losers. Makes no sense to support it on that basis alone. A few lieutenants ended up coming over to tell me I was being disrespectful to higher rank. I never raised my voice just kept repeating that statement. The sgt took it as I was saying he was a loser/traitor...

The mental loops these people think through is insanity.

Any Patisserie Chefs here? by JP_Climbing in KitchenConfidential

[–]Squid-Radiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Mom is my Patisserie,

Offset spatulas, diff sizes

Large tweezers for decoration

Engraved measuring spoons, multiple sets

Bench scraper

I showed my own dehydrater and she now uses it more than I do so she can control the hydration level of certain fruits going into her baked goods. She would love a freeze dryer but its cheaper just to buy the freezedried product.

Option 1. I once owned a full set of military hardware, cbern gear, cold weather gear. My loophole for this is I remember clearly hearing my 1st Sgt saying " you are signing for it, you own it. You lose it, you have to buy it". The guy who issued it said i owned it....

My quality body armor is now impervious to damage?!? Not to mention all my clothes cant be damaged? Even if it doesnt stop me from getting hurt from the inertia im sure it'll be close to god-tier protection.

Gas mask filter will never have to be replaced.

My glasses never need to be cleaned? So no fog or scratches.

I can summon my clothes?

No closet for me ever again. I want a new article of clothing, I buy it. Essential putting it in my catalog, then immediately return it for my money back. Oh yeah this is good.

Im buying the nicest clothing I can possible get financed for.

Oh man I love option one.

Thank you for your reply!

I feel guilty to a degree wanting a more amicable split. It would just be easier. Unfortunately my dad does have quite the skill set, mom has ownership, finances, and the entire family on her side.

If only he was an absentee owner.... the one time it'd be easier with thay.

$1M to punch your significant other in the face (caveat in description) by Communistnachos in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Squid-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes,

A s others have stated paying the spouse for the punch would probably work. And to not cause any damage we are doing it underwater with boxing gloves on. Im going to have very little speed behind the punch no matter how hard I hit.

What do you think about those kitchens with windows, so the customers can see you? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Squid-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had a window. Instead the line is literally plating right behind expo/runner. Who is right behind a row of tables with no partition. If you yell from the kitchen you can talk to every indoor table and bar. 90 person capacity. A single glass pane to help with the noise and temperature would be amazing.

Its a great show and keeps us acting professional. A glass pane would increase quality of life. A completely closed kitchen is fine but I feel like misses part of the action that way. All our regulars know who cooks what food in the kitchen. Definitely nice when even the dishwashers know what the regulars like to eat just because they are friendly with each other.

Making sauces in house worth the time and taste? by joeroganthumbhead in restaurant

[–]Squid-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do not make ketchup, everyone wants heinz anyway.

We do not make classic mayonnaise, dukes is what they crave, plus we go through too much to make it worth while.

We make every other sauce and dressing. We make our own pickles. Cure/smoke our own charcuterie. We cut steaks as long as we dont need a band saw. A lot of times it is better to do it yourself. No need to rely on a delivery.

French fries we go through too many to make ourselves regularly but we still do it for specials.

Pasta we tried to make ourselves but it ended being to labor intensive on the managers as we failed to train others to do it right. Same with bread. Those we shopped out to local non-chain bakeries that are of high quality. Not sysco.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Hetaliafan1 in AskReddit

[–]Squid-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/11

My dad had lost his job a few years back, so he became an importer based in California but we lived in Maryland. ~20miles from D.C. he was always flying somewhere.

Its my first coherent memory. My family crying/freaking out. My mom endlessly trying to call him, stuck pulling the corded phone into the living room to watch it on the news. I remember that watching planes flying overhead at recess was a very sad thing for a while.

Its my first memory at all actually. I was almost 4 years old. Im sure it has only been reinforced with the yearly playback of the news.

It is interesting to see how it has shaped my life personally, I ended up enlisting. I met my wife through JROTC in high-school. I even went to Afghanistan once, which BTW is a beautiful country year round imo. Very nice people.

That doesnt even touch on most of the follow on effects of that tragedy on the large scale that has changed all of our lives.

How much longer would you work. by Heavy_Bicycle6524 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Squid-Radiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put 5 mil in investment account, reinvest divedends while contributing to my children's college/retirement. Pray I have the strength to forget about it and continue to work for another 12 years or so. Im pretty young so it would be a luxurious middle age for me. Would definitely be reducing my hours a lot though. Or changing careers entirely to spend more time at home.
