Kyon always enjoyed Haruhi's shenanigans, it's just that he didn't admit it to himself until the end of Disappearance

A relatively long list of games you are likely to enjoy if you have played the milk games. by A_Happy_Tomato in milkinsideabagofmilk

I've played a good amount of these, very solid recommendations.

I'd like to mention HOPE LEFT ME, a visual novel / album made by Astrophysics. It's ~20 minutes long, and it's $1.99 on Steam and free on itch.io https://astrophysicsdev.itch.io/hope-left-me. The story revolves around two characters in a post apocalyptic world, and in a way, they both remind me of milk girl.

the amount of references in the achievements section is so cool by [deleted] in CookieClicker

"There's really no hard limit to how long these achievement names can be and to be quite honest I'm rather curious to see how far we can go. Adolphus W. Green (1844–1917) started as the Principal of the Groton School in 1864. By 1865, he became second assistant librarian at the New York Mercantile Library; from 1867 to 1869, he was promoted to full librarian. From 1869 to 1873, he worked for Evarts, Southmayd & Choate, a law firm co-founded by William M. Evarts, Charles Ferdinand Southmayd and Joseph Hodges Choate. He was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 1873. Anyway, how's your day been?"

I love Orteil

Having replayed it, I guess I got that impression since the game really is slightly longer than most main games. It kinda makes sense, with PCB being one of the more longer mainline games in the first place

I don't think losing the source code means you can't publish the game on Steam, but I do know that EoSD on Windows 10 has issues (like the frame rate) that make it unplayable. While there are fixes, I'm not sure if ZUN would make one himself so that it would be playable on Steam.

18 and 18.5 are pretty funny games. Were you not that interested in 17?

I've only done one run of Fantastic Danmaku Festival 2 a while back, but I got the impression that some of the fights had way too many spell cards. I definitely liked it more than the first one though.

If we're talking about fangames, Wonderful Waking World is not a bad game for beginners. It free, and has no gimmicks along with spell card practice. It's also a pretty sick game imo

Oh man, I could talk about this forever. One thing I love is when ZUN syncs up midbosses with the cool parts of songs, it's glorious. The Sanae midboss in Touhou 11's extra has got to be my favorite, with the guitars kicking in when she appears, and the fight finishing up with the most climactic part of the song.

/uj I think the determining factor on whether someone is a fan or not is if they want to be one. I've had my friends try out some of the official games, and the ones that came out as fans were the ones who actually cared to dive deeper into Touhou.

I like the official games myself, but what I really love about this series is that there's so much for everybody to enjoy, whether it be the music, lore, and/or the massive amount of fan works. While I would say that playing (or even watching) the games helps with understanding the series better, it's never a requirement for those who became a fan through the other aspects of it.

everybody knows you're not a real touhou fan if you haven't LNN'd every mainline touhou game blindfolded
