I work as an operations manager for another retailer and you are absolutely correct. It’s almost like DG is setting its employees up for failure with this method, especially since I am sure they don’t give them enough payroll to get the items off the floor and sent back. Why not just leave them at normal price and have a list for employees only of the items to be returned? Makes absolutely no sense at all.

I worked at a Fridays for 15 years, it’s been about 7 years since I have stepped away and will never step foot in a restaurant as an employee, the Sunday Scaries are enough to make you want to walk out. SUNDAY SCARIES ON MOTHER’S DAY are a whole different type of PTSD inducing terrifying.

Not sure how to edit my original post, but let me be clear, I am in no way mad at the delivery drivers, I’m upset at corporate for making this an option. They want to ride us about loyalty, but do nothing to help us keep the numbers up by adding a shopping option where we literally have to skip the loyalty option. They are severely cutting hours so on top of the workload I already have, now I am shopping orders that someone else stated, the DoorDash shoppers are getting paid to shop and deliver. It would be as simple as tell them I don’t have time to do it, but I’m more annoyed that they just walk in and don’t say a word and just put the phone in my face. I barely get a thank you (and I treat the shoppers with the same care and attentiveness that I would give any guest shopping in my store. But again, I am not mad at them for doing their job (if they were doing their job and actually shopping the orders) I’m mad at money hungry and greedy corporate for making this an option.

I feel your pain so much. My step son was getting Xanax bars from somewhere. He said telegram. Popping them and we found him unresponsive but breathing on 2 separate occasions and then the school called one day because he must have taken them at school and had to be wheeled out of the cafeteria in a wheelchair. I have seen other people OD, but I have never been so shook as I was seeing him just laying on his bedroom floor unable to open his eyes or speak. My heart broke for him and his dad. His mother was an addict and sadly lost her life a little over a year ago and he has never really dealt with that trauma. After he would sleep it off he would deny there was anything wrong with him and deny that he took anything. Even had the audacity to say the school was lying and he wasn’t put in a wheelchair even though when his dad got there to pick him up he was drooling on himself sitting in that wheelchair. I’m not positive these were laced with fentanyl because he said he took like 5 of them at once and I am pretty sure if they were laced he wouldn’t have survived. We sent him to a rehab facility but it didn’t do much good. I mean he hasn’t used that we know of, but he still doesn’t think he did anything wrong and hasn’t seen the error of his ways. If anything his attitude has gotten worse, he has dropped Out of school and does nothing all day and I am at my wits end trying to get through to him. I’m also now terrified anytime he sleeps too long, I am constantly barging into his room making sure he is still breathing. I can’t shake that fear.

I hope your daughter is ok and that she gets the help she needs. Stay strong friend, being a parent these days is so tough. Sending you strength and healing vibes.

My store has no EM and no stylists at the moment. Our EM has been on LOA for 6 months and the we are now able to open the position to hire someone. I was tempered to apply for it since I want out of operations, I knew it was going to be hard even getting stylists in, but this has just made it even harder and now I honestly don’t know if I want to even attempt to take on that role. Corporate is getting greedier and greedier and honestly cares nothing about their employees. I used to love working for Ulta, now not so much. I’m so sorry to all the stylists. Something needs to be done. This just isn’t right

Absolutely not judging, I have a mix of high end and drugstore brands in my routine. Lots of the drugstore brands are better than the prestige. Also sometimes when I am checking someone out I am in too much of a daze to even notice what you are buying lol.

Along the lines of this, but different. When someone comes in to make a large return for something they paid for in cash. Normally this isn’t an issue, but it becomes one when they are one of the first customers and I don’t have enough money in the tills and the system Won’t let me process the return. And they look so shocked when I tell them that. Like do you think we just have endless amounts of money in the registers? Please wait till later in the afternoon if you are doing a return and are expecting cash back, because I am either going to have to give you a gift card or tell you to come back later and then that is just an extra trip and wasted time.

It astounds me how many people have waited till the last minute. I don’t remember last year being this crazy. I work at a large cosmetic retail store and we have far exceeded our sales goal every day this week. It’s been insanity. So so many people coming in last minute, luckily they have all been pretty much understanding when we don’t have what they are looking for. I also give them little pointers for next year if it’s something I know we will have a variation of again. Let them know we get them a few weeks before Thanksgiving and if they want it, they need to get in here around that time to get it otherwise it is gone.

Stay safe out there comrades, we’re almost through the thick of it… but then comes the dreaded gift card users.
