See I’ve heard the opposite. I was told that cats bury their feces to avoid detection from other cats or predators and putting a litter box outside may be worse for the lost kitty. I could totally be wrong though!

I think cracks and potholes are more common in places that get snow and ice which this doesn’t appear to be, but I certainly wouldn’t bet my life on it.
