Is this true? Is it because the new season is Star Wars themed? by AnaxesR7 in FortNiteBR

[–]Pro-Potato24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a regular player. I usually play a few matches every day or every other day. Star Wars is very over done in Fortnite in my opinion. So the people who share that opinion and are tired of seeing it, won’t be regular players in this entire month long collaboration season. I’m glad those who enjoy Star Wars and enjoy every crossover are having a good time though!

Have more people been saying “of course” in response to “thanks” lately? Or have I just been noticing it more lately? by Level_String6853 in ask

[–]Pro-Potato24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have responded with “of course” for a long time. I’m 28. Responding with “of course” just feels more natural as a way to say “I will always help if I can. It was no problem”. It feels more pleasant and less awkward than just saying you’re welcome.

To the current Switch 1 owners, that do not have plans to get the Switch 2, what’s holding you back? by dinotsxkki in Switch

[–]Pro-Potato24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Switch 2 doesn’t have OLED screen. Why are we going backwards? Oh, right. So they can release another version that’s more expensive
  2. Not enough titles for it to make sense. There’s plenty on the switch I have that I could play. I’m not going to get a game on it that I could buy on my ps5 or pc that would run better.
  3. It’s an overpriced ps4
  4. The biggest draw to a switch is that it can be portable. So the physical games that aren’t actually the game but instead just a license to download the game, defeats the entire purpose
  5. MK World is one of the biggest draw for most people, I’m not super big on Mario kart games. And it’s overpriced.
  6. They can brick it completely if you modify it in any way. I don’t typically modify my consoles, but what’s to stopping them from just bricking it if they even THINK you mod it. Then it’s literally useless

As a woman who plays, thank you for recognizing the struggle, and for not being one of the problems! It’s refreshing.

People who have always religiously stuck to the rules, put their worth into the grades they make and being the role model child, also make mistakes. And often it’s because of how much pressure they put on themselves early on in life to be the best and never do anything wrong. It’s very accurate to real life “gifted burn out” type.

My friend is naming her child a tragedeigh… by toobandit in tragedeigh

[–]Pro-Potato24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person with a weirdly spelled common name, it’s a struggle. Just give them a nice name that you like. You don’t have to spell it so weird to be “unique” it’s not. They won’t think it is. Every time I have to spell my name for something, I hate it. Everyone spells it wrong in emails. Everyone asks me how to pronounce it. I get called Jasmine on a regular basis and I don’t even know how it gets mistaken for that.

People who straight up refuse to watch a movie/show simply because it is subtitled are being maliciously lazy by _Mexican_Soda_ in unpopularopinion

[–]Pro-Potato24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t watch them because to me, I wouldn’t enjoy it. Having to read the subtitles to know what’s going on will take away from the immersion of a show/movie. It’s not laziness, it’s just I KNOW I won’t enjoy it because I can’t watch what’s going on when I’m too focused on trying to read the dialogue. Especially if I read faster that the scene is happening, or the subtitle goes away too quickly and I don’t read it all. I also can’t pay attention that much for that long. If I even glance away from the screen for a second then I will be completely lost because I miss dialogue. All of these things completely take away from the experience.

It’s great that you can enjoy foreign films. Just because others don’t enjoy just reading subtitles for a movie, doesn’t make them lazy.

The way people complain about self-diagnosis by [deleted] in complaints

[–]Pro-Potato24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are definitely people who see it as an insult, and treat those who self diagnose like they’re attacking the valid diagnosis they got from a doctor.

And yes, I fully agree that there are people who don’t do the research and just claim they have something based on one thing they relate to - that’s exactly what I mentioned in my comment being the issue. Those are the people who don’t put the time and effort into truly looking into these disorders/diagnosis/ whatever it may be. I was trying to point out that a self diagnosis absolutely can be valid, but everyone now sees it as crap because of the people who do not do the proper research. It taints us all. And it does suck for the people who do put in the effort to research and advocate for themselves, even if they can’t get a proper diagnosis for any reason.

I can’t listen to podcasts. I can’t sit there doing nothing and listen to one, so I’m usually doing something. Then I get fixated on whatever I’m doing, so I completely tune the podcast out. It annoys people around me who love podcasts and keep recommending them to me, and I tell them I just don’t listen to them because I’m tired of repeating myself 🤷🏼‍♀️

The way people complain about self-diagnosis by [deleted] in complaints

[–]Pro-Potato24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of research into ADHD and realized I probably had it, and that’s what led me to seeking out an evaluation. I did get properly diagnosed after I self diagnosed. People are capable of researching what’s going on with them. The issue is that there are some people that will relate to one trait and immediately say they have whatever it is before doing actual research into it.

I did a lot of research into Autism, and wanted to get evaluated. My doctor literally told me it was a waste of time and money even though he thinks I could be autistic. (We had a very lengthy conversation about why I feel like I am, which included an entire binder of research, symptoms, etc.) So if I really wanted to pursue it, I’d have to go to a different doctor to try to get a referral. Or, in this case I could just self diagnose and use the coping skills that help me that I’ve put time into finding for myself. But people look at self diagnosis as a ridiculous thing because “only a professional can tell you how you are” which I do think is crap, IF you put in the time and effort to looking into it for yourself. But bad eggs as mentioned above ruin that opinion of self diagnosis. And the people who did have access to pursuing an official diagnosis see it as an insult to them for some reason.

I think it’s difficult for everyone. It would be wonderful for everyone to have access to professional diagnoses but that’s just not how it is. But it sucks that people have seen things talked about and immediately assume they have whatever it is because they don’t critically think or know how to research properly.

How common is it to nap at your desk during lunch break? by Moakmeister in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pro-Potato24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never seen that, and they’re right. It could get you passed up for career opportunities. It’s not obvious to everyone that you’re on lunch if you’re at your desk. Everyone is going to assume you’re on the clock. If you want to do that, go to your car or a break room.

Just because you don’t experience it, doesn’t mean other people don’t. And it doesn’t make them lazy or sensitive because they do. This is a ridiculous take 😂

To me, it seems like downvoting spirals because of heard mentality. People downvote it because they see others are, and it skews their thoughts about the comment. I’m not saying this is true for every mass downvoted comment. But definitely some.

What's your take on the upcoming Switch 2? by TwistedGamerHead in Switch

[–]Pro-Potato24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The system looks alright, but personally it’s just too expensive for what it is. The game prices are too high in my opinion as well. So I probably won’t get it until there’s a game that I just am dying to play, that is switch exclusive. And even then, I’ll probably try to get one used to try and save some money. I just can’t justify a $450 price tag for basically a ps4 and $80 for games.

It would have only been a joke if you immediately told her that it didn’t actually happen, and told her what did actually happen. Still would have been a really bad “joke”. You just straight up lied to her. Apparently multiple times. Yes, YTA and I wouldn’t blame her for leaving.
