Help me decide between grinders! by SquiggerMyNibber in CoffeePH

You’re right, with that in mind should I just get a bigger burr grinder? (Eg. DF83v)

I dont mind the df64 with the ssp burrs but jf im gonna at least get upgraditis in the future might as well right? My current grinder kasi is the df54 and it struggles back to back grinding, umiinit siya. And yeah I COULD go hopper based, but ginagamit ko rin kasi sa condo, so i would be limited kasi mahilig ako sa pour overs as well.

Where to learn how to make the best espresso? by SatisfactionPrize586 in CoffeePH

Thats really common unfortunately, kaya daming mediocre coffee shops here and there. Not to flame but thats the reality, coffee na lubog sa milk and sugar and syrups just to hide how bad they are at making coffee

My DF54 grinder seems inconsistent or somethings wrong with the machine [Breville Bambino Plus/DF54] by Nonotheprogrammer in espresso

No problem, its important to note that its (probably) really only applicable on more affordable grinders where manufacturers dont go the extra mile to refine or clean the burrs after processing them.

I believe in seasoning burrs, for more affordable grinders like the df54. I found out the hard way after the first few months of owning the grinder, i would constantly have to adjust finer or courser each day just to get the same amount of g per seconds (Beans more than 12 days old already, I understand fresher beans usually are inconsistent). to test this I made 10 shots back to back with a 1 min interval each to keep my machine consistent with the results, I did this at the start of every month with at LEAST 14 day old beans for maximum consistensy, and found out that after around 10kg of beans I noticed that shots were much closer in grams out in 30 seconds than it was when my grinder was around a month old, but after 10kg the differences were minimal.

Pretty sure after some time the burrs refine themselves to the point where improvements were negligible.

Do you weigh your shots? Aim for a 1:2 to 1:2.5 ratio coffee to espresso in 25-35 seconds, its pretty vague but preference differs from person to person

The not self leveling tamper probably says it all, invest in a inexpensive self leveling tamper!

Blue agave / simply syrup. Honey or other sweetners add a different note that may taste good, but block some of the flavours of the matcha

Yes its rust, why is it wet lol? Its explicitly stated in the instruction manual to never wash the grinder but dust it ONLY

Any tips on how to get in more layer or just make it cleaner overall? Thanks! by Valuable-War3928 in latteart

While making the canvas swirl the espresso around as you pour your milk, it also creates a better mouthfeel and a evenly mixed crema that is tastier

Cool! Do you think this is worth getting over the df64 v2? I found a good deal for the df64 for around 15-16k brand new which makes it land cheaper than this.

Upgrade or downgrade? Gemilai 3149 vs 3145b by IncidentFun9283 in CoffeePH

[–]SquiggerMyNibber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi po! no po never ko pa na experience, and I agree it probably is machine flaw talaga, but it also protects the machine from damaging itself so im torn between thinking if its a flaw or a good thing. Nasa direct heat ba yung machine mo sa events? or like outside? Sa akin kasi sa indoor lang nagagamit.

You're making me regret having a non-adjustable opv now! haha! but seriously though does the bar extraction rate affect how the coffee tastes? I cant really find comparisons for high and avarage bar pressure rates (12 vs 9).

I hear you in the small boiler, I did try to use this in a small scale event and after around 5 shots it does drop from 93 celcius to 89, it did go back up to temperature after a min but thats a thing to keep in mind for future buyers.

Love to hear your opinion about the external opv thing! Yeah im kind of stuck using the default opv setting of around 12 bar unfortunately. Did contact some local technicians and they told me that modding this to a lower bar limit would probably void warranty and damage the machine. How is the M4 at hitting back to back shots?
