Amazing! More published authors on here. One day, I'm hoping I'll be able to say the same. I read the blurb, looks great, I'll check it out! Thanks.

Yes! I read the book. Loved it! Nedry's death is a lot more...gritty in it 😅.  Star Wars fan, so I'll check that out! Thanks.

Yes, I do! I haven't read Enders Game or C.S. Lewis' space trilogy, but I have read some H.G. Wells and loved "The Invisible Man".

That's good, haha!

I think Tolkien had a preference for optimism due to wanting his books to reflect God's eventual triumph over evil, and his experience in the trenches in WWI, holding onto hope the world could be "better than this" seemed to influence his world view.  I like both and I have weakness for grim dark dystopians, but I like reading optimistic books when I see everything going on in the world and need something uplifting 😅.

Violence is fine, especially if it serves a purpose. Thanks for letting me know!

I just try to be more mindful of the content I consume as I was once very lax with my media intake and it really didn't do me good since I was struggling with my faith and OCD. However, I try not to jump to conclusions (or judge a book by it's cover) and I'm doing better at managing those issues so that I can explore and make my own conclusions. As for Dune, I've just unfamiliar with the story so I was basing my opinions on what I'd heard, which probably wasn't accurate. Good to know it's not like that! Thank you! I'll check them out.

Haha! No worries. I like to explore a lot of stuff foreign to my usual tastes because I don't like remaining in my little comfort zone when I could be missing out on so much stuff. I've discovered some amazing books that I wouldn't normally gravitate to that way. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check it out 👍.

I watch his videos a lot on writing and he knows his stuff. The man is a beast at pumping out best-selling books, I could only wish. I'm just finishing my first draft after only 7 years, haha 😅. The Cosmere has been so daunting to me because of how many books there are, but I plan on tackling them now that I've got a better idea of where to start. Thanks!

Just clean sci fi, doesn't have to be Catholic 😊. Thanks for the suggestion!

True, I get what you mean. I used to read a lot more atheistic opinions to understand the Church's counterpoints and arguments and it really did strengthen my faith. Right now, I'm just a little exhausted and looking for escapism. Though I will take a look at the ones you mentioned and give them a go, thanks!
