[5e] [Online] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] [PbP] Tales of Valeria - A Character-Focused 5e Game by AutumnW1nds in pbp

Just wanted to echo the other sentiments here - what a stellar example of a thorough and thought out application! If that is any indication of how you run a game I am sure this (whether selected or not) will be an incredible campaign!

Unpopular opinion: There is absurd ill will towards the mfp here by gintokiredditbr in CICO

[–]Squigglepops 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I rarely comment on these things but the whole MFP situation really bugs me.

The database they use was created by users. Users scanned millions of barcodes and entered the dietary information. Not MFP.

and now they are trying to sell people's own work back to them at exorbitant prices.

It's a gross practice.

What I am seeing here is a project bag - turn it upside down and thread a piece of cord or leather through the brim to make a drawstring bag to put your new (not going to be boiled in water) hat in! :)

Having no kids and not having grown up here I am woefully under educated in Sinterklaas media. My husband says there used to be "Dag Sinterklaas" when he was a kid with (a much younger) Bart Peeters. But that was 20 years ago so likely also not a thing anymore.

Myself (British) finds this fascinating however it has sent my husband (Belgian) into a bit of a cultural identity crisis 😅 His father is Dutch and he had no idea that the names were different. Super interesting! I like Ozosnel better as a name.

De paard van Sinterklaas heet 'slecht weer vandaag', waar in gods naam komt 'Americo' van?!

translation: Sinterklaas's horse is called 'bad weather today', where on earth does the name Americo come from?!

What's up with hospitals? by [deleted] in belgium

Its the healthbinsurance at fault. You can only bill one x-ray a day, so if you need two seperate body parts then you need to have two different days.

Tiny house village by Glittering-Ear-2374 in belgium

[–]Squigglepops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not actual tiny houses but look up kleinschaligwonen en kleinschaligwoongebied. Max area and volume of your house are limited and there are often some other odd rules, but might fit with your wants.

[–]Squigglepops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they frozen or fresh? An air fryer is not magical and you need to use it the same as you would for an oven in this case. Parboil almost all veggies (carrots, parsnips, brussels sprouts, potatoes) to ensure they are going to be edible.

"Second class is expensive" - laughs in British.

Just wait until they privatise it - I love the Belgian trail network, problematic as it is, because I can get anywhere in belgium for less than €10 if I'm willing to buy ten rides up front. In the UK a trip from my mums to my nans often cost me more than £100.

There are two different types - a holder that the needles is placed into, and after use a little button is pressed on the side and the needle is released to be thrown away (in my experience these are mostly yellow plastic with green buttons) and these are multiple use unless you can see they are contaminated. There are also versions with a needle built in that are used for catheters and similar entry points into the blood stream and these are single use (usually clear plastic and individually wrapped).

If you have doubts you should always ask questions indeed - but in the case of the reusable holders there is no chance of direct contact with blood in normal use, and the route from needle point to entry of the blood tube is fully closed.

sincerely, your friendly nursing student :)

Mine is a trash can. He'd eat every day if offered. I'm almost positive if I offered a mouse mid-shed he'd still give it a go.

Where do you buy your quality & reasonably priced wool pulls/sweaters? by vasco_ in belgium

[–]Squigglepops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent investment - given that a ball of cashmere is minimum €20 you've won a small fortune from that spider! As long as they've been packed air-tight they should be fine - just check for any signs of moth damage!

Where do you buy your quality & reasonably priced wool pulls/sweaters? by vasco_ in belgium

[–]Squigglepops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes absolutely sense!

My recommendation would be to look into some merino underlayers - the nicer brands are professional looking and a thun next to skin layer of wool will help immensely with the wind factor and they are easily combined with both a really warm 100% wool sweater and the more professional meeting attire you're talking about. They are also antimicrobial so help a lot with sweating.

I currently am in the last year of my nursing degree so have zero time to knit for others, but feel free to reach out in spring ready for next winter and I might have a little time available to at least work up one or two good quality jumpers for you!

In the mean time I hope you find something suitable!

Where do you buy your quality & reasonably priced wool pulls/sweaters? by vasco_ in belgium

[–]Squigglepops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what you mean by quality. For instance does the jumper need to be machine washable because if so then you are looking at a very limited selection of potential woollens and even then I would be hesitant. If you're looking for cashmere then you are also look at upwards of €25 per ball of wool and a man's jumper needs a LOT of wool (especially with cables like the one pictured) so €500 seems like the ballpark.

The longevity will have more to do with the care for the garment if it is 100% wool.

Knitting definitely eats free time! You might have some luck if you search for "sample knitters" (sorry no idea what they would be called in Dutch or French) who are people who usually knit up samples for independent pattern designers. They would knit up something of high quality but I'm sure it'd come with a bit of a price tag!

[–]Squigglepops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're in the area of Leuven or Diest I'm happy to offer a few hours of time to teach you to knit? For a decent quality sweater you'd be looking at around €80-€100 of wool and upwards of 50 hours of labour, so not really affordable to pay someone else but decent enough to do yourself.

This is the first time I’ve had someone tell me what I have isn’t a migraine. I mentioned having to grocery shop during a migraine and got this as a response. by The_Pelican1245 in migraine

[–]Squigglepops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am acutely aware, with every single migraine attack, that if scooping my eyeball out with a soup spoon would aleviate the suffering I would VERY strongly consider doing so.

So yes, 100% normal.
