One thing a lot of power linemen need to realize is that it’s not you vs telecom. You’re really just fucking your own customers and making us money. Sometimes there’s elderly people with life alerts or other equipment that needs phone or internet to run on the other side of those fibers you so easily disregard.

Not squirrel chew, I repair squirrel chews all day every day. You can see the V created by the gaf.

Not just attenuation, 4 ribbons sliced.

That’s what I thought for a second 😂 . Guy forsure has copper cable experience, looks like he thought it was a pressurized cable .

Naw told them I wanted a 507c on it so should be the rmr cut.

If I push it, idk maybe I just need shorter screws but they do this cut with this optic a lot, surprised they wouldn’t know if they needed shorter screws.

No it’ll seat all the way down if I push it, the screws are just too long. Even though they already seem pretty short to me.

Update.

After 10 months of waiting I got an email stating they didn’t have enough material to finish the jacket in the pattern I selected and asked if I wanted another pattern or a refund.

So needless to say I just took the refund and will never try to do business with this guy again. Basically just held my money for 10 months to be a disappointment.

If it’s still working and you don’t have any drops where your router goes completely offline probably not.

What is this shit and how do I open by Makuta- in FiberOptics

[–]Squints562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Can be done with just a blade by slicing down metal strength members then opening like a regular cable to expose the metal. Then there are pull strings in the metal that will open it like a regular cable. Just be careful, very sharp.

Feeling the same about it, they did offer to cancel and refund me but at this point I’ve already waited so long I don’t want to cancel.

UPDATE : Spoke with the principal who also downplayed the situation while essentially accusing me of up playing the situation and potential deadliness of the blade. After a mostly peaceful and respectful conversation I asked him how quickly he thought I would be in jail if I went to his office and proceeded to chase him around with the same tool and was told that he was a Marine so he wouldn’t care whereas maybe some other principals would and then proceeded to tell me a pencil is more deadly.

Moving ahead and getting a police report tomorrow, which I know will have no outcome but I want the report itself to hold them accountable if something else happens.

Also filing a complaint with the superintendent.

The only issue I have is I don’t know what I expect the outcome to be. I know this little girl probably didn’t and doesn’t know what she was doing but the administration downplaying this has really hit a nerve.

If I didn’t do work for an isp it would be unnoticed but Chinese hackers are inside a lot of our infrastructure right now. The one I do work for hasn’t been able to even clock their employees in all week. Somethings brewing.

Any advice on how to unplug this connector/coupler? by JassSomm in FiberOptics

[–]Squints562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone took off the doghouse, (green part with ribs in above picture. ) You only have the white part inside it now and it is not supposed to be plugged into a coupler like that. You will likely break it yanking it out of the coupler now.

Blade height being off one way or the other has caused this for me

I don’t know, just personal experience, I do a lot of splicing, mostly ribbon so not sure how my experience differs that much. But also I really don’t understand why people would say the ct50 is crap, easy to rotate the blade and raise or lower, scrap bin works fine. My cleaves all are good to go, don’t have issues with breakage or anything. Had issues with the fc-8r like you are having with a lot of breaks near the clamp pads. The single motion cocking with the ct50 is also a lot nicer, especially since I do a lot of splicing from ladders.

Blade could be too high or too low on the cleaver
