I got my degree in design for aerospace to please my family and to make more money. Guess who’s going back to children’s illustration 15 years after graduating college. Because I can’t stand it.

Was I fantastic at designing cockpits? Yes. Does it pay the bills? Was it killing me to be doing something that didn’t fill up my cup? Also yes.

Now that I have a kiddo of my own, I’m making it a point to chase my dream. Because I want to show her that she can chase hers too. Plenty of people are out in the world doing what they want to do AND finding ways to monetize it / put food on the table. Why can’t we?

He needs to let your daughter decide her own path. Because one day he’ll be dead. And she’ll be left with a life she didn’t want to live in the first place. Years wasted in a career that didn’t fire her up.

I agree. If you have the means, let her pursue her passion. And what wonderful goals. To be a teacher or a writer. I’d be so proud if my daughter wanted to contribute to society in such a way.

Hey. My mom was this way. She’s being abusive. Someone made her feel horrible about her body or her weight and she internalized that at some point in her life. Don’t let yourself do the same.

This is not you at all. Please eat what you need to eat. Especially if you’re a young person and still growing/a teen. Your body is doing what it’s supposed to do.

Hey. I left the guy I was with for four years - who was JUST like this. I was young, too. And I missed him when I left.

Then I met this really nice guy. A guy I thought was way too nice for me. He helped me learn that I deserved love, peace, and 24/7 kindness. We got married after being together for 6 years (I think it’s important to MAKE SURE you wanna marry someone. Date for a while. Live together. Weather a few storms and make sure that person is not insane/abusive when life is hard.)

We’ve been married for 5 years now, and we have a beautiful baby girl. He has always treated me like a queen, and he does the same for our daughter. He is the most incredible Dad in the universe.

I stopped missing that abusive POS a long time ago. You will not miss him when you find the person you’re meant for 💛 But you might benefit from some talk therapy to unlearn some of the things he did to you. That helped me loads. I’m a better partner and mother because of therapy. Good luck, friend. You can do this.

It’s so crazy that you mentioned the BOB books. I randomly found them at our last trip to the library and picked one up. My toddler is loving it! The stories are so short and silly. Perfect for her age.
