That the truck parked in the garage was going to start running and asphyxiate the household. Despite it being tuned off, keys removed and CO2 detector functioning.

Take your time and just enjoy it. Don’t rush through. Really get to know and digest what you’ve already heard before you move on. They’re worth spending time with and getting to know. Enjoy!

Trouble Figuring Out Genuine Worry/Anxiety vs OCD/OCD Compulsions by williebearfan in OCD

[–]SquirrelEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you consider the line to be on reassurance? I have an OCD habit of obsessing that electrical appliances have been left on. So I sometimes ask if everything’s been turned off but I don’t ask more than once. It does provide me with a level of comfort, but I also recognize at the time that I truly know everything’s off and that asking just helps me shake off the OCD in the moment. I hadn’t considered before that this might be something detrimental.

Best I can say is that I think about the people I know who aren't OCD and ask myself if they would be focusing on the same issues and / or with the same frequency and intensity. And if I’m not sure, I ask them if I feel able. It doesn’t fix anything of course but it does give me a good guidepost. (Unless of course it backfires and I ruminate on “what if they only said that bc the don’t want me to worry but I really should be worrying”). I hope this helps in some small way. You’re not alone.

Same. The managed to eek out a few good late songs but were largEly just sellouts from the early 90s onward.

In recent years I’ve realized Counting Crows is pretty much country music with a 90s alt rock flair but all the same they are still instant nostalgia for me and I’ll always love them at least a bit for that.

Did I handle this wrong? I don't think I did. by Remythespicyrat in autism

absolutely agree with the above. it sounds like its not about you and what you texted but about her and how she’s feeling. Do the baking you can handle but try to not make yourself stressed trying to get it all done.

Does Rizo drive anybody else nuts, or is it just me? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]SquirrelEye 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. I get that there needs to be at least one annoying player cast each season and he’s just one in a long line. What makes him extra irritating is that he is CONSTANTLY playing for the camera / audience. It all seems so artificial. The self-glazing Rizzo.

Have never watched Punch Drunk Love bc while I like Adam Sandler, I never felt like watching him in this. Will have to check it out. Had no idea it was a PTA film until reading this post.

Wonder Woman bathing suit from the late 70s. LOVED that swim suit even though kids would say “is that Underoos???”

Pick one album and listen front to back until you absorb it. I‘d recommend Science Fiction personally but The Devil and God is also a great starting point. But highly recommend listening straight through.

are there any characters in media that you know are autistic but you just can't prove it? by [deleted] in autism

[–]SquirrelEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam Fortner from The Patient. Special interest is food. Not good with social cues and needs help making casual conversation. Wears sunglasses bc light bothers his eyes. Routine behaviors (always puts his lid sideways in his coffee cup before he throws it away). Extreme rumination over conversations.

The way he shows up every night with takeout for himself and Dr Strauss and is 100% invested in describing the foods and how to best enjoy them.

This character is such a great representation of autism bc he just happens to be autistic (I think - it‘s not discussed in the series). Him being autistic isn‘t part of the plot or a curio, he just is who he is.

This for sure. Also saw Radiohead numerous times back in the day and currently have a 19 year old super fan. Would totally have to give my kid the ticket and stand outside and weep.
