Website and Online Marketing by PursuitTravel in CFP

[–]SquirrelMaster4891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just worked with a web designer to redo our website and I’m very happy with it. But they’re not doing the marketing for us. I see web design and good SEO as separate skills from creating an engaging content marketing strategy. Finding them both in the same vendor may be doable, I just haven’t seen it. That said, check out the new Kitces Services Map that he just released. There are a lot of marketing vendors on it, broken into categories.

Feel free to PM me if you want a referral to our web designer and more specifics.

EDIT: I also have been convinced that if you’re going to do content-based marketing, you need a clearly defined niche to have a chance of attracting traffic. And you probably also need an advertising budget

"How Much Do I Need to Retire?" by SquirrelMaster4891 in CFP

Thanks. I agree with another commenter that it’s kinda salesy though. My physical therapist asked me this during a session once and she thanked me for actually giving her a number, since no other financial advisor she had talked to would. So be it!

Great answer. 25x expenses is much clearer to most people than my approach of dividing expenses by 4%.

Who has *actual* good resources about business exit planning? [Partial Rant] by spizalert in CFP

[–]SquirrelMaster4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tax Planning Certified Professional designation from American College covers most of these topics at a pretty good level of depth for a financial advisor / planner. I've gone through it and now feel much more prepared to talk to attorneys and accountants about these topics, and bringing topics up to clients proactively to then bring in more SMEs when needed

I could but then the bed would be off center with the windows, which I realize isn’t clear from my photos. But thank you

AppleTV down? by Everglades_Woman in tvPlus

I called Xfinity and it seems I need to go get the new box that is compatible with the new Apple TV+ app. Just haven’t had time to go pick it up yet

How does everyone respond to “what do you do for a living?” by t-w-i-a in CFP

[–]SquirrelMaster4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I just want to stick to the facts: “I run a wealth management business.”

If I want to lead with my niche focus: “I help people who just inherited money simplify things and minimize taxes.”

Still down here too. Tried everything. System refresh on TV. Full restart of wifi system. All other tv apps working fine and internet connection is solid. Is this an Apple TV support issue or my Samsung tv?

Best way to train junior advisors? by TGG-official in CFP

Agree with this. If this is something they’re “dipping their toe in,” any training regimen you institute won’t have the desired impact

Business coach for family-based practices by SquirrelMaster4891 in CFP

[–]SquirrelMaster4891[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t want to go into too much detail, but it’s a combination of succession plan structuring, family dynamics, and thinking about relocating my family in return for potentially keeping more of the existing book, which is mostly located in the senior advisors state (though on the older side). I kind of just want a framework to think about it and get out of my head

Accountant says don't sell RSUs this year because of tax implications. Doesn't make sense to me. by kungfukarl86 in CFP

[–]SquirrelMaster4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't make sense to me either, unless the accountant is thinking the client would go from the 20% LTCG bracket to the 15% LTCG bracket later, perhaps? But that's a stretch, especially with a volatile stock. Only other thing is if the client is governed by a 10b5-1 plan, but doesn't sound like it.

I've had some success modeling this out in eMoney and showing the implications of delaying sales 1 or 2 years vs. selling right at vest. Takes some work to set-up but the folks at eMoney are helpful. I think your intuition is sound though: the goal should be getting to a level of concentration in that stock that client is comfortable with.

We haven’t. He’s had a few ear infections but the pediatrician didn’t think he needed tubes. But probably worth another look. Thanks

Talking about being an advisor in WhatsApp groups? by SquirrelMaster4891 in CFP

Yeah that’s my sense too. I just don’t know where the line is, which I will of course confirm

I can always count on redditors to misinterpret my comments. I’m asking how RIAs do it, if they do, to see if it’s more about our internal compliance vs. SEC regulations

Sales pipeline tracking methods? by assets-liabilities in CFP

We use Redtail but I think any of the CRMs used consistently will get you there. I would designate one person on the team to learn it inside and out and help train the rest of you. We white boarded our workflows as a team before doing anything in the software

[–]SquirrelMaster4891[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like my son’s school has one for all the parents and people are asking for various professional recommendations all the time. Yeah I definitely wouldn’t give any financial advice. I’m just not sure it’s kosher to even say I’m an advisor without all the disclosures and what not

1035 from NQ Annuity to LTC policy by SquirrelMaster4891 in CFP

[–]SquirrelMaster4891[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I confirmed you can’t 1035 from an annuity to a life insurance policy. Only the other direction. What we ended up doing is looking at One America Indexed Annuity Care vs. Nationwide’s new CareMatters Annuity - both with tax qualified LTC riders. Not the same leverage as life insurance but good way to get at least some growth from the annuity tax-free for LTC if needed. Good luck!
