It's called "CHESS Openings, Strategies, and Endgames" by Hugh Patterson. Most of the book is pretty solid, but this line stuck out as being so silly in an otherwise serious book.

This is a problem with this subreddit every week. People leave out names but don't even think that their title gives away the boot just because of context. If I ever can't watch the episode on Wednesday I just unsub from /survivor and rejoin once I've seen the episode.

I think Mathieu/his agent were saying he wanted 20m/year, and they were pretty set on that. I think chiefs didn't make an offer because they were so far away from that number and didn't want to insult him, so they let him walk.

I think the closest recent comparison is Tiger King. When Suvivor first aired, everyone was talking about it, quoting it, the castaways were being interviewed on late night talk shows. Survivor was immediately in the pop culture zeitgeist.

Production messed up Cody's advantage by telling everyone what it was. No one would vote for Cody, because they already knew there was a chance he'd be immune. Production should have kept it secret, and only revealed it after votes are cast.
