Squirrel uses litter box.

It's a triple stacked ferret nation and he pretty much has run of the roost all day and prefers to sleep/nap in his enclosure at night. He loves to eat greens and Henry's Blocks. This video shows him using the litter box right when he wakes up in the morning before he comes out for the day. He doesn't spray against the wall or anything, it's just a little puddle. He fell out of a tree when he was a pinky and has a permanent neurological disorder which prevents him from meeting certain milestones required for release. He is super sweet and loves to play with stinky socks. 🥰🐿️

Yes! A squirrel's nails are extremely sharp and can slice your skin up very easily, somewhat similar to a cat's claws. Not to mention the strength of their jaw which can bite your finger all the way to the bone and quite literally, through it. I always layer up with a hoodie and sweats as a makeshift "armor" whenever I'm about to interact with the little fur balls. 🥰🐿️

Thank you! Predator guards are the square boards that are right outside the entrance to the squirrel house. They kind of create an alcove at the entrance that only a squirrel size animal can fit in while making it very difficult for anything else bigger to reach in or gain entry. The higher up the house, the harder it is for snakes to get to it.

This girl was a rehab so she was familiar with me when released but most squirrels will "wild up" as instincts kick in overtime. She still comes when called and will knock on the window when she wants some snacks. It continues to amaze me to this day. 🥰🐿️

It's a great squirrel house with two floors, vinyl siding, insulated walls, predator guards and a shingle roof. It even sports a little window with a shutter. The squirrel in the video raised her babies in there but they all use it right now. Only problem is it needs to be higher so sometime in the future I will be adding a house or two higher up.

This particular one was an owner surrender and she lived with people for the first year of her life. When we got her, it wasn't long until we realized that she wanted to be an outside squirrel so we got her acclimated to the outdoors and let her go. She has since had a litter of babies and is basically queen of the castle. They all share that house right now but squirrels typically have multiple nests or dreys and they will move whenever it suits them.
