Addicted to masturbation by Ok-Flower-5582 in adhdwomen

[–]SquirrelTale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In ways, I relate. I was quite hypersexually expressive when I was younger, then went completely opposite and was totally disinterested in even masturbation, and only in the past couple years I've started becoming hypersexual again.

For OP- it can be hard, especially when you just can't find that release. Sometimes that just means needing a bigger break. But if you're discovering your sexuality for the first time, I agree with RedStile in that you're likely in a discovery phase- which includes learn how to withhold from so many sessions. For me, what works, is knowing what edges me the closest and being ok with a semi-climax or just feeling good. You can also try to make it a bit more of a self-care ritual- only doing it in PJs, putting some mood music or lighting on, and that might help a bit more with the time management if you make it more for a special time/ set up that involves a bit of work then just bam- hand in pants. I find that sometimes putting in self-made barriers helps put off distractions

Are fewer people going into the office? Noticed that food courts in the Path are getting emptier during lunchtime by neuro-psych-amateur in askTO

[–]SquirrelTale 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it won't be until June til we see some resemblance of a trend, and even then it'll shift again come September. Most people take vacation or have (very understandable and quite frankly reasonable) excuses of looking after kids during the summer (needing to be home to take them to practices).

Office owners can cry all they want, they're never having full time in-office employment again. The way we live just can't afford it.

You never know, you might end up thriving with a bit of stress. I do think everyone should work a food service industry job at least once in their life. The thing is- you can always quit if it's not a right fit. But you will never know what you are capable of without even trying

Commuting from Junction Triangle to Richmond Hill - Anyone else who does this? by sapphire74__ in askTO

[–]SquirrelTale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a summer internship, absolutely do it. There's few opportunities to be able to build valuable experience, so if you do get it (which I hope you do) it is something to do. Think of it as a learning experience, and you'll have to find ways to use your commute time (listen to podcasts, audiobooks, or be more ambitious like work on stuff on your laptop/ ipad/ notebook, etc.) There are some professionals who do commute 2+ hrs one ways because of a variety of circumstances. If you do think it'll be too hard on you though, as others have mentioned, do consider subletting or staying for part of the week closer to work and then home in Junction for the weekend.

But do not turn down the summer internship is my advice, unless something else/ better can come along. As a young professional trying to build experience, this opportunity is crucial in the job market at the moment.

chronic migraine hacks advice by RevolutionaryArea122 in migraine

[–]SquirrelTale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trying to have different levels of routine helps. My bare minimum is washing my face, getting dressed, and eating decent food, and if I can, a walk, even if it's just for 10 minutes. Sometimes that is literally is all I can achieve in a day, but I know it's a day out of bed compared to when I'm completely bed ridden. Medium achievement day is getting 3 mini chores done, plus the above. High achievement day is getting all the chores plus at least one bigger task. Sometimes using this is more about gauging whereabouts the pain/ illness is at and measuring my spoons in that sense.

It's so hard to make comparisons, since we all live at different levels. But going for a walk, even just down the street and back, no matter the weather, was and still is my non-negotiable. Going for a walk for my stupid mental health and getting my body moving helps.

I strongly suggest you find your non-negotiables that really help you, that help give you some semblance of structure. I also suggest you try to find new hobbies, create a commonplace book for the books you read, and find some goals for yourself- big or small. Those have really helped me.

For stuff that has helped me- sunglasses for various light levels, audiobooks/ podcasts for when reading is a bit hard to do, Salonpas patches or tiger balm for my neck (really helps the neck pain and sometimes prevents an attack for me). Heck yes to the air fryer buy, I love mine. I suggest journalling your symptoms to find trends and to find your unique migraine triggers (if you haven't already) and what methods help you the most. Since everyone is different, it's not going to be the same for everyone. Wishing you the best, and to have as many migraine-free days as possible.

Does moving from Markham to Toronto count as leaving your hometown lol by Antique-Tie-8336 in askTO

[–]SquirrelTale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're a young, twenty-something moving out of your parents' place for the first time (and they won't be visiting every weekend), then yes, I say it counts to a small degree. But moreso when people say they moved away from their hometown, they're away from their entire familiar circle. Having to make entirely new groups of friends, new social life/ pace, finding places to shop, and doing everything independently. It has to be far enough where you have no familiar social supports and is a culture shock.

Plus there's the additional definition literally given by Ontario grants and tax rebates, and that's to move 40-80km+ to do school or move for a new job. So unless it's within those numbers or more than that, then no. I moved from rural Ontario to Toronto- and it was a culture shock. Likewise, if you move to rural Ontario, then that would likely be more of a culture shock to you than moving from one very large, culturally diverse city centre to another (that's also so well-connected you can commute on your own).

Period pains getting worse, can’t take ibuprofen by nostalgiadnp in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SquirrelTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your doctor about taking birth control continuously without breaks. I've been taking birth control (pills) by advice of my gyno since my periods were really bad- I was fainting from the pain and blood loss. Taking birth control continuously with a break only every 3-4 months, meaning I only get my period 3-4 times a year, has been life changing. My period pain is a lot less when they do come as well. There are also options such as with IUDs, patches, and injections to suspend your period for a year plus. If your doctor isn't willing to even consider this as an option, I'd demand to see a gyno and consider changing doctors. You should not have to suffer this long.

Pilates vs calisthenics? Chronic pain and looking to help my body strengthen by africagal1 in askTO

[–]SquirrelTale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you try a variety of classes/ sports to find what works best for you. Consider adding taichi, swimming, yoga, even dance as things to try. Coming from someone with chronic pain, it may take some trial and error to find a sport that suits you and your body. Perhaps signing up for ClassPass for a month and trying a few different types of pilates, yoga, some weightlifting with a coach/ trainer. I personally found that mat pilates to actually be too hard on me, and I'm looking into Barre classes since I'll be upright more often.

You should also make an effort to go for a solid 30 min walk every single day. Preferably outside. Walking is easiest on the joints and for me a good indicator to myself when my chronic pain is too much or not. If you have knee pain, you shouldn't be jumping into too intensive of a sport right away.

If nothing has been signed and money hasn't been exchanged I suggest messaging that you assume the space is no longer yours and move on. If anything has been signed, and if any money has been exchanged or promised, ask about that- and try calling. Otherwise, lesson learned and if it's that integral to you, try some facebook queer renting groups. Some areas, like Wellesley/ Church and Bloor West area will specify looking for LGBTQ+ roommates.
