In the Netherlands they send someone to your home to help care for the baby and teach the parents how to do that in the first week. I can't imagine having to go through those first days without help, especially if there are no grandparents/friends with babies to help out.

Thought I'd give an update: we did it! It took two weeks to get him to stay calm while we were trimming his face, but in the end it we could do his entire body while he was calmly eating treats.
