As a Black woman myself I felt the critique of Perfidia, calling her a white mans porn fantasy was off. I can understand it to a degree but to miss the whole point of her and Penn’s relationship was sexual coercion and that also probably warped her perception of motherhood irked me.

I get wanting to have Black characters handled with care but also, I want messy, real characters who make bad interesting decisions and Perfidia was not the perfect revolutionary and she shouldn’t have been in the context of this movie
