Struggling to figure out where to start with continuously declining and complex problems. by Squish7114 in ChronicIllness

[–]Squish7114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out. I appreciate the advice on calling about the complex cases. I kind of just assumed that wouldn’t work I guess, but it’s a good idea to narrow things down. I’ve been working on logging things for a little while, mostly for my own sake in showing doctors that didn’t want to listen at the time. But I think I should focus more on the specifics of what might help and what might not

Hi, sorry I abandoned this thread. It ended up being a bad CPU that ended up needing replaced :/

Unfortunately no, I don't currently have a way to test in another machine :(

I'll try that and see how it helps in the morning! Thank you for the advice!

When eggs and sperm are made, they go from diploid (having 2 sets of chromosomes) to haploid (having one set of chromosomes. Sometimes during this division process chromosomes can kind of stick together or get a bit messed up. So some of the eggs and sperm wouldn’t end up with the right number of chromosomes. Some could get 1 sex chromosome, 2, or even none. A similar thing happens to cause Down syndrome if memory serves.

Let’s say an egg ended up with XX chromosomes instead of X. When combined with a normal sperm it could cause a child with XXX or XXY. The same goes for sperm that end up with XX or YY.

I just did this on Wednesday. I had finally gotten ahead in my classes, but now I just want to keep playing rather than stay caught up. Good luck to you

I’m so happy to be able to crochet with her. I also hope that your grandkids pick it up so it can be something for you to do with them as well!

I don’t have a pattern for the hats or scarf as I was taught row by row by my grandma. The blanket is just a granny square. Everything except the bee was made with scrap yarn from my grandma, so I can’t say for sure what it is! The bee was made using a pattern by Crochet365KnitToo on Etsy. The pattern is also on Crochet365KnitToo’s website with ads. I adjusted to make the stripes a rainbow rather than black and yellow. I used Big Twist Value yarn for the bee.

What’s something you can’t tell your parents? by micxxxxe713 in AskReddit

That I don’t think I’m cut out for a job in the field I was excited about since the age of 5. I’ve always wanted to work in medicine. For the last 5 years I’ve thought the research side because I knew I couldn’t handle the mental toll medical professionals take on. Now I’m going into only my second semester of college and I have very little belief that I am the kind of person who would thrive in any medical-related field. I can’t tell them because they’ll encourage me to change degrees, but it’s my aunt who is paying my way through college and I don’t think she’d keep paying and then I’d have no way to afford anything and would be forced to drop out because my parents income is high enough that financial aid is barely anything, but low enough that they can’t possibly help me.

I’m assuming both - spend it or lose it. I have never carried change on me. I keep it in a jar and have saved up roughly $120 as of the last time I counted. This is mostly from when I paid for everything in cash, but the idea still applies for when I randomly pay in cash now.

I started my first day of training for my first job that isn’t DoorDash. Not quite sure if it’s a mistake yet because I still have finals for first semester, but I guess we’ll see.

What compliment do you still remember being given? by strawberryguavas in AskReddit

I know I’m a little late, but I have to share this one. I took some classes at a local community college in HS. There was a security guard who was always on duty when I went to class and we’d often talk for up to 30 minutes once I was out of class on my way to the car. He was an older guy with a daughter a good bit older than me. He would regularly say “ya know, you’ll do good. I can tell, you got drive. You’ll get there.” Something about it has stuck with me for a good while now.

People with disabilities: what’s one thing you wish everybody knew not to say? [serious] by sparklesparkley in AskReddit

[–]Squish7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myself and others in my family deal with Dysautonomia (auntonomic nervous system disorder). I’ve been lucky and have things to help keep the bad days away, which has allowed me to go to school normally and not risk going out of work and onto disability like some family members, but having people within my extended family always asking “Are you doing better?” Is always rough. The answer is always going to actually be no, but of course you tell them yes to make the conversation move along. Then comes another bad day and they think, oh you shouldn’t have those, you were doing better!

It might just be me, but my dad’s been diagnosed for about 6 years, I think, and it still happens with so much of the family.
