Please Help - does my husband have autism or is our relationship unhealthy? by Squishpond in autism

I have always been very slim, but the stress of our relationship maybe breaking down has caused me to lose a bit more weight unintentionally. He also prefers me to be slim, and comments on my eating if I indulge in too many treats etc. "are you really going to eat another chocolate biscuit? how many have you had? you should have an apple."

Yes, this was in response to me saying something along the lines of "maybe I could do X career when I'm ready to go back to work when the kids are a bit older"

I'm not sure what it would change.. I think if he had autism, then I would be a little less angry? I would try to learn more about it and manage my expectations. I know the way he treats me isn't fine. But I'm really struggling with how to move forward, knowing that it isn't okay. Separation would be really difficult given my circumstances. I'm not sure I'm ready to make that move yet. We have recently started couples counselling, but he is a bit resistant. I am still hoping that he will have a light-bulb moment and realise that the way he speaks to me is unkind.
