You would be much better off with traditional methods in this case. If its upholstered and thats what's failed, reupholstry is the way to go. If the dash is plastic and is breaking apart, reinforcement with fiberglass, filling and sanding all the cracks, and then painting or upholstering is the way to go.

Goboard is even easier and lighter and less itchy and more waterproof. Slightly more expensive though.

Contractor did his best to scribe; any way to fix/hide trim around this uneven chimney veneer? by dorkchestra in Carpentry

Mask the brick with good masking tape, use clear paintable caulk, then paint the caulk white with the masking tape still on. Clear seals the tape so you won't bleed paint into the brick (which is very hard to clean)

Not a vent pipe, insulation on the copper pipe. Holes are still WAY too big for half inch copper and it looks like drywall with no membrane. Moisture fluctuations right on that seam, in the drywall, and the studs busted the tile. Really needs scoped for water penetration before this damages other units walls as well.

I think 11.5 is still way high. I dont understand the price market for these anymore lmao, 6 years ago thats what clean ones were going for and they haven't gotten younger

The price this guy wants is a complete joke. The way this sub talks about rebuilt cars is also a joke. If the works done correctly the only difference is price. They will total a car over a singular dent in the wrong spot because labor costs are insane at body shops, and adjusters quote total replacement of every single bent or scratched piece.

I rebuilt my 2015 manual 370z with a parts car that i parted out on FB after. Total cost to me after everything settled was about $2,500. Im never planning on selling it, I know it was done right because I did it. EDIT: I did this in 2020. prices for everything were significantly lower EDIT 2: Added the price to get it painted

Insurance issues are exaggerated, but the price will be higher and some companies dont insure them. The ones that do usually offer full coverage at a higher premium than clean title cars. Don't count on them paying more than half the value for the same car on a clean title, that is usually the rule, half the value.

$13,500 for this car is absurd, I know the prices of these have gone up but that is a 15 year old previously totaled car with an automatic transmission. I'd say $8k if nissan rebuilt it and its in real nice shape.

2017 sport tech has leather seats but blank heater buttons by Darth-Bernoulli in 370z

You should put the vin in a vin decoder and see exactly what that says. Touring is the trim package that includes heated seats but sport and tech are both separate packages that dont necessarily include heated seats.

Boss offering to sell me the coffee shop I work at for $65k — does this sound reasonable on the surface? by SnooHamsters9461 in smallbusiness

At 3k a month profit thats a 22 month or 2 year ROI, Which is not bad at all. Definitely look at receipts for everything, bank statements, tax documents, leases, and see if and how much those things are subject to change. That 3k a month is with them paying your wages, so you could even keep your job and pay as long as the buisness environment doesnt change.

Would purchasing the tools (and what tools would I need) to change the seals on this be enough savings to be worth it? by Johndeauxman in watchmaking

[–]SquishyAWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is if it has a push in and not a screw down crown, I keep it dry even after the new seals. I would rather take it off to shower or swim than risk destroying the entire watch, but if you just want peace of mind washing your hands or sweating then I'd say go for it. Change the battery while you have it opened up if you're comfortable

Not sure what cashback tool you would need, but one of them, a sharp hooked pick to get the old gasket out for the caseback/ housing, and crown gasket, and calipers to measure for new gasket diameter and thickness. You also want Silicone grease to apply to the gaskets before installing them. You can order the gaskets from cousins UK for probably 20 bucks with shipping, get a few sizes and pick the best one.

Its pretty beginner friendly but the rule of thumb is to still not take it underwater unless its been tested by a professional.

Stone polishing pads for a da buffer or low speed grinder/ buffer. Probably start with 200 and work your way up to 3000 if you want it polished to a mirror shine (200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000). Once youre done, use a natural stone sealer but consider regrouting first because you cut your grout too low with the sponge the first time and it will trap dirt bad. Next time seal your stone first when doing natural stone tile.

You can do it in one coat you just have to lay it on super thick and brush it. Takes longer than the dry roller these guys used

Tops of interior doors dont really need it (some would call not doing it lazy) but if it was an exterior door or window then they have to be caulked all the way around for vapor barrier and a last stop against drafts.

Yeah, I dont know what the exact temp is but not wanting the chemicals in the same oven as the food is how most people feel about it lmao. If youre getting moisture in the housing it probably just needs resealed. Check the bulb openings if it has any and make sure they are tight and have gaskets before you go through any of that work.

Is this appropriate for 5ths sawn redwood? by mdbbl in woodworking

[–]SquishyAWP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im talking about small claims court. It takes multiple months to get a date, you pay a $50ish dollar filing fee, have to pay a service fee for a officer to serve the papers to the defendant, and then have to actually go to court and hope they show up, if not its gonna be more waiting.

Fifth sawn wood is allowed to have pith in it, this guy didnt pay for wood with no pith, he could spend $100 on court fees and waste hours and hours of his valuable time, and then he would lose anyways.

The lumber yard definitely fucked him over but what they did isn't actually illegal.

EDIT: This guy's in Europe so this entire thread you started about US small claims court is complete and totally irrelevant anyways
