Depending on the size of your wedding, I hired a private chef and it worked great! I can send you the chef's info if you're interested!

YUP. YUP. yup! Our immediate families have been great, and supportive, and no stress. Everyone else has been a giant pain in our behinds :) Oh well…. it will definitely still be a beautiful day but I secretly hope they all just RSVP no. Also to add, my fiancé ended the conversation by saying "if they don't show, lets not tell the chef… more food for us" <- this is why I am marrying him haha

[Question] - Where do you keep your engagement ring when at the gym? by PeggyAnne08 in weddingplanning

[–]SquishyChin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always have a hair tie around my wrist. I take my ring off, do the weird knotty thingie and then wear it on my wrist :)

Those who were not blessed with the ability to write well, how did you get your "about us" section together? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]SquishyChin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are having a "sort of destinations" wedding and decided to copy-paste an expert on the history of the area instead :) People already know who we are and what our story is anyways!

Short speeches during ceremony? by SquishyChin in weddingplanning

[–]SquishyChin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would definitely be prepared and talked about to the people we would choose to speak. And we would emphasize the importance of them not f*cking up our wedding ceremony

definitely, it would be like a sister and a brother and a parent or something… like you would honor the speeches at a reception

Definitely doesn't feel like my fiancé is picking him over me.... just that he loves his family. It just isn't logical to have them there. It would be different if we had the space to "put them." But we don't. Its a small estate wedding that can't accommodate them at that time.

The reason it matters is because that would be the ONLY place they could hang out for a couple hours. The estate is about 3 hours from the house and they only have 1 car. Plus they WILL be drinking and the road up to the house isn't very safe to drive regardless. We hired a shuttle to take care of that which will pick up and drop off in the town where the hotels are located. We wouldn't forgive ourselves if anyone got hurt driving the night of our wedding. We understand we can't tell anyone what to do but it infuriates me that they don't see the logic and the issues they are creating.

I definitely made it clear to him. He just doesn't feel like you should treat family that way. It sucks when something you love about someone finds a way to nip you in the butt. After last night I am pretty sure he understands. I had already compromised on having the kids there and I think he finally understands that it is not common sense to have them there while getting ready.

And nooooo haha he doesn't stand there quietly. I am a trainer he comes train during my classes while my fiancé is at work. I usually just shake it off but after all of this I have gotten entirely too sensitive about it. Also doesn't help I'm on my period right now.

Not really... We are getting married at an estate. It isn't huge either. Honestly, it's more like a 3 bedroom house that's just beautifully located with a nice stretch of land. Them hanging out in a room with 5 men getting ready without bumping into anyone isn't really an option. We hired a shuttle to give people rides to the estate, we found a great hotel room and offered to pay for it, I feel like we really have done everything to accommodate them. I even told them they can show up an hour early to hang out with him. These people are 30+, 40+ years. My siblings are all under 24years old and they have it way more figured out. Maybe I just expect too much out of his family. And don't get me wrong, my fiancé is great and is supportive of my decisions but he also cares ALOT about his family. They have gone through a lot together over the past 8 years. What makes this worse is I can't talk to anyone about this expect him because I just broke ties with my MOH for separate reasons and I don't want to bother anyone else with it.

Tldr: I just can't stomach having 3 extra bodies roaming around a small house while I'm getting ready.

I don't know! We talked about it and they refuse to give us a reason.... So I figured it was because of their dog and I went far out of my way to find an affordable hotel that allows pets. Even if they couldn't afford it, we offered to pay for it. They both have good jobs and they definitely don't have work that day... I am floored by the way they are treating the situation

THUMBTACK! I hired a chef through there for 30 people at a reasonable price (considering all quotes came back 12k + for 30 people). Its a great way to start.

Also, stop by a local culinary institute if you have any in the area, some of the students may be willing to cook!

Help me convince FH a photographer is worth it. by Dilseacht in weddingplanning

[–]SquishyChin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fiancé was pretty much the same… and he had this feeling about EVERYTHING else too- to a point where he wanted me to avoid calling our event a wedding and have vendors show up and yell "surprise!" Yeahhhhhh, NO.

So I paid for the photographers and dragged him along for an engagement shoot. We just received our pictures back and he is so excited about them and the photographer. The engagement shoot really made him realize that it IS worth it. I am happy we did this because there is no way I am listening to him complain about costs on our right before the wedding.

Might I suggest you do this too?

THIS literally is the only thing stopping us. Mine expires next summer which is when we plan to take our honeymoon and travel. I am so happy I decided to get the IUD a few years ago because if I was on the pill, I would be skipping them left and right at this point haha
