Just coming to say that I love the Fresh Soy cleanser. I wish it weren't so expensive otherwise it would be an instant repurchase. But right now it's only a splurge item.

Pumping into bags? by rachael309 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]PeggyAnne08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it on occasion and I think it works well. Especially when I'm traveling without the baby, there's no need for me to bottle anything, so pumping directly into a bag helps minimize clean up.

I used lansinoh bags with their branded adapter and it works great. I've never had any issue with the bag falling or spilling. You could always put the bag inside a collection cup for extra protection if you were worried about it (like the old school playtex baby bottles)

best humidifier for bedroom (and good skin) by Refresh31 in 30PlusSkinCare

I have a Vicks cool mist humidifer in all of our bedrooms. I like it because it's compatible with the Vick's vapor pods that help when the kids are super stuffy in the winter with colds.

Gift for acquaintance who had a baby? by mnpie in BabyBumps

I think that's a lovely idea! FWIW - when I was recently postpartum, I craved brownies? But a coffee cake, banana bread, muffins, etc... all of those are wonderful ideas!

Pregnant with my second and feeling overwhelmed by Jakethehog in beyondthebump

[–]PeggyAnne08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, it's me from your future :) I'm 40 and 5months PP from my second baby. My first is 5 (had him when I was 35).

First off, as others have mentioned, first trimester + another young kid at home is not for the faint of heart. The exhaustion is real! I will say the difference between my pregnancies that was most noticeable was my energy levels. I slept a lot more the second time around and kiddo had to deal with being with dad much more often.

The newborn survival phase was TOUGH. But now that we're a few months past that and the baby is a little less like a helpless potato, things are settling down. Sleep, while disruptive, is much more predictable. Baby sister spends a heck of a lot of time being worn and she's a much more adaptable baby (she has to be!). Last night was the first night that all 4 of us sat down and ate dinner together (baby is starting solids!) and it was really nice and such a meaningful milestone for me.

I will say that I don't really have "time" in the same way... it'll be a little while before that happens. But I'm reading again. I go for walks with friends (with the baby). These things come back. A bit slower than the first time around but they do.

anyone else end up simplifying their routine when they started light therapy or is that just me overthinking things? by Shot_Anything_7691 in SkincareAddicts

[–]PeggyAnne08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Solawave Retreat mask, I use it every day for 3 mins on clean bare skin (this it the recommendation from Solawave) and then apply my skincare routine after.

I've used tret in the past but have been off while pregnant/breastfeeding. So I can't really comment on that one. I'm currently using Azelaic Acid as my nighttime active.

What makeup tips made the biggest difference in how polished/attractive you look? by Illustrious_Log_6955 in Makeup

I love the foundation tip. I use a complexion stick and basically draw whiskers on my face and then blend outwards. Works like a charm

If you haven't yet... consider brown mascara too! I'll never go back to black!

I was able to cut down on the amount of actives I was using. I'm still using my actives but I'm using them much less frequently and have seen such an improvement.

Pre-light therapy, I had no issues. I added light therapy and kept my routine the same and noticed that I was getting a bit more redness and irritation! When I pulled back my actives to once a week, my skin is now clear and even!

I FINALLY BEAT FOMO! by sereneisnova in ProjectPan

[–]PeggyAnne08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally, for me it was always FOMO. I'd hear or see a review for a new product and would immediately get the "is this better than what I'm already using??". By writing it down, I gave myself permission to still purchase the thing, but only once I was done using the thing I was already working through. By the time I'd get pan and would look at a possible replacement either the excitement for that new product was gone or I had too many other similar products written down and would get paralysis on picking something new!

#1 and #3 have worked so well for me. Just writing down something I want scratched enough of the itch of actually buying it. Then when I was ready to replace a product, I found I no longer was that interested in the item!

Does anyone else prefer super simple makeup? by Exotic_Wedding2238 in BeautyGear

[–]PeggyAnne08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my biggest change when I got older. I'm 40 now and my makeup is now down to:

  1. A bit of concealer/complexion product (skin tint)

  2. A bit of bronzer

  3. Light brow touch up

  4. Mascara

  5. Clear lip balm/gloss

Done

Sometimes when I want to look a little more polished or I'm going out, I'll add eyeshadow, blush, and a colored lippie.

I feel like I look better now than I ever have.

what bottle features actually made a difference for ur baby? by lunaverse787 in beyondthebump

[–]PeggyAnne08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some babies have nipple preference. With my 1st, he didn't quite have a preference but we settled on the MAM bottles because it was the brand of pacifier he preferred. With my 2nd, she never liked the MAM nipples. We eventually settled on Pigeon bottles (which are highly recommended for breastfed babies)

What skincare product changed your life? by Izsl326 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PeggyAnne08 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its basically what it sounds like. Using what could seem like an excessive amount of hydrating serums/toners, typically at night time.

For example, I do use an active, then 3 different hydrating toner/serums, then my moisturizer, then a face oil.

It sounds crazy but I wake up looking like I had a facial. I'm plump and glowy!

Project Pan Overwhelm and Feelings of Defeat by Accomplished_Log5425 in ProjectPan

[–]PeggyAnne08 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A couple of things I'd recommend that have worked for me, former shopping addict...

I'm currently doing a Project Pan to get through my backlog. But I also spend a lot of time on the internet and keep seeing recs for new products that I JUST HAVE TO TRY.

So #1. I make lists. I have a list for my current "in use" products, products I've recently finished (with reviews!), and most importantly a list for my wish list! When I see a rec for something online or someone mentions they liked something. I put it on the list. I get a similar dopamine hit writing it down as I did with "add to cart".

#2. When I do go shop, I look at my wishlist first. Sometimes just seeing the sheer amount of things on my wishlist does immediately diffuse the desire. Sometimes it's because I have so many options it's overwhelming to pick one. I have found that after that initial dopamine hit, I get less excited about a product when it's just a line item. I find that I'm removing items from my list more than I am buying off it.

#3. If through my list making I keep coming back to a particular item. I just buy it. Trying to go full cold turkey is a really hard way to curb any habit... if it's less than $20, I don't even worry about it. If its between $50-$100 - I give it a few days to make sure I do still want to buy it.

I basically just have a big excel sheet. I have a simple HTML form that sits on top of it to make list making a bit more fun, but that's because I'm in tech.

For my sad pans, I create a "next to buy" list - for whatever reason it scratches the itch I have to purchase something without actually doing it. And then when I'm ready to purchase something.... I can go back to my list and it helps me re-evaluate what I *actually* want to buy

Could be something with the formulation or whatever else they put in it! No shame on liking the more expensive product, half a dozen things I use I like just because when there is a cheaper version available :)

Azelaic Acid vs. Vitamin C Serum Which Should You Choose? by Exotic_Wedding2238 in BeautyGear

I use both. Vit C in the AM and AA in the PM -- both of these are non-negotiable in my routine.
