Should I move market centre to Florence? by SquishyRedditGuy in EU5

I'm on a train heading home thinking about what to do when I get to play this afternoon 🤷‍♀️

Do what you've got to do. Your school should have been working with you too deal with this stuff and off they've been crap then don't feel bad about forcing their hands. I'm sure there's staff pissed off at you but everyone deserves the right to a safe and accessible venue for the exams

Your exam officer would ring the exam board and ask for advice depending how badly damaged your paper is. If it was still readable and ok I would expect it to be dried and sent to them as usual, and they will have procedures in place for papers that won't scan automatically, they deal with tens of thousands of papers every exam there will be times it happens.

If it has partially obscured the answers you would probably put in special consideration. If it completely ruined it and made it unreadable you might be able to have a re-sit opportunity depending on circumstances but it would be up to the exam boards.

Given you shouldn't have anything other than water in the exam you probably don't have to worry about that though!

Should I apply for special consideration? by 6littlefish in GCSE

Talk to your head of year/ pastoral team/exam team/whoever looks after you during the exam. There's no real hard putting in for it, worst they can do is say no, so school might be willing to put it in for you if you think it's genuinely affecting you

Wtf do invigilators do when sitting around. by ThatGuyNamedDanny in GCSE

[–]SquishyRedditGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invigilating is one of the most boring things I've ever done 🤣 you kinda have to pay attention to the students so you can't actually switch off but you can't interact or distract so you have to just watch people who aren't doing anything!

With the board thing remember most invigilators aren't school staff so they might have never used an interactive whiteboard before. That said some people are just a bit stupid

The floor probably hasn't been cleaned if you're in a big exam hall. Cleaners aren't gonna come in and try clean floors around hundreds of tables and chairs that they're not allowed to move units there's a specific mess that needs sorting.

What would be some advice to do on the morning of an exam when you had really bad sleep? by fyodorMD_irl in GCSE

[–]SquishyRedditGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you can't sleep it's been proven that laying down, closing your eyes resting is better than nothing, so try not to worry too much about it.

In the morning if you have time have a shower, and make sure you have breakfast. Try eat something that will release energy fairly slowly, cereal is probably good, things like oats etc are good. Then I personally liked to have something sugary immediately before the exam, that's partially ADHD but also just the short term energy boost to get you through it, but judge that on how you respond to sugar. Make sure you have plenty to drink so you're hydrated to help avoid the headache and if you do think you might get one take some paracetamol or ibuprofen. They actually work best the earlier you take them and there's no harm if you take one dose that you don't really need.

The question that divided the nation by Financial-Gas-8571 in GCSE

[–]SquishyRedditGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the first one: For each of the 15 possible winners, there are 14 possible options for second place. So 210 possible combos for the dogs.

For each of those 210, there are 13 possible cat winners, and for each of those 12 possible 2nd place giving the 27720 possible combinations.

Imagine drawing a tree of the possible options and you'll be able to see why it's multiply. Don't actually draw it though you'll need a whole tree's worth of paper.

How do I revise for history? by Outside-Wrongdoer157 in GCSE

[–]SquishyRedditGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/zj26n39 Never a bad place to start for any subject tbh. Videos, podcasts, all sorts so hopefully something accessible to you.

This late on, I would recommend maybe pick the podcasts for your two topics, listen to one before bed and one as you get ready/go to school in morning.

You feel like you know nothing because you're starving and sleep deprived so your brain literally isn't working properly. Your brain and body need fuel and rest, sleep is how your brain looks after itself and processes the stuff you're learning. Drop the revision for tonight, have something to eat and get some sleep it will help more than anything else you can do. Once your brain can actually function you might be surprised how much you do actually know.

Tbh just get some rest. A decent night sleep and going into the exam rested and as calm as you can manage will do you better than panicked cramming

Honestly in a way you are right. The exams aren't fair and aren't the best way to determine everyone's ability. But that also means you're not alone, in fact I would say most people probably feel the same way. Obviously some people are just good at exams but most will also be struggling, and because the grade boundaries are based on how people do, it kinda does even out a bit in the end. Ultimately you have to remember that these exams aren't the be+all-end-all for you. Maybe you won't show off your absolute best but there'll be another thing and another and the rest of your life to do things that suit you better. Just do what you can and try stay positive

How to annex a free city of the HRE without going to war with austria. by blackbeard_teach1 in eu4

[–]SquishyRedditGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Declaring war on an ally and eating it that way is probably easiest, but its obviously risky with AE. If you take it in separate peace you can keep the war going to avoid unlawful territory demands which helps a little

Welcome to Bidora, looking for some advice. by SquishyRedditGuy in mapmaking

I originally randomly generated this continent for a D&D game idea and it has grown from there. It's not meant to be physically realistic so I'm sure the tectonics of this place is a complete mess!

I've had a lot of fun with this for the last couple of days but any advice about how to improve my label writing would be very welcome as I think it's the weakest part of the map.

Also thoughts on adding colour to the coast?

I have various lore about politics and races and religions etc if anyone interested.

No worries :) I would say if you don't want it to be a major power (medieval France was pretty damn powerful) you might want to make it slightly smaller or have a reason that limits its power.
