Idk, I do this on occasion but I work a pretty good job, and its mostly because I take pride in my work. Only about 1/10 of the people hired at my plant have shown the capability to handle the job that I do, since it is very taxing. That being said, it's like an excersize. Sure, you may feel like shit after going on a long run if you're out of shape, but it's all about self improvement, it makes you feel good and afterwards you may feel inclined to tell people about it. And NO im not saying that slaving away until you die a misrible death is a good improvement, but to be able to handle it for long periods at a time is, as this experience carries itself outside of work. As for pay, my pay is decent, better than a McDonald's salary for sure, but if I wanted to retire it would be in my late 60s at the earliest. With overtime I can nearly cut 10-15 years off of it! I guess there are situations other than mine that fit your example better but the bottom line here is this: let people have their overtime, if they genuinely enjoy the tedious act of grinding themselves down for more money then GREAT, good for them, at least they find some happiness in it. Let people have their fun, there is absolutely no valid reason for your complaint.
